prefered .22 handgun?
im in the market to buy a 22 handgun.
sounds like a good first handgun.
i like to shoot a lot, so it will mostly be plinking.
but i might keep it in the car sometimes.
A 22 is better than nothing.
i have shot many handguns in all calibers, but i want to start small.
and you never outgrow a 22.
what are some ideas at which one is best.

Browning Buckmark is my favorite.
I also have
Pheonix arms
Rugers
Taurus
S&W
Beretta
Walther
But I like the Browning the best. Not a big browning fan but I love the Buckmark. And there are tons of upgrades for it.

I had a Heritage they are good for the money . I don't think many people will disagree that a mark II is hard to beat from plinkin to whatever .

Ruger Mark II semi
Ruger Single Six has a 22 LR and 22 WMR cyclinder
Browing Buckmark = P.O.S.

Used prices are kinda hard to guess at. On Gunbroker they are priced anywhere from $275 to $500, depending on model most of them are around $350. My buddy paid $300 for one at the last Jnx gunshow, but he got it from a dealer he buys a couple of guns a month from so he got a deal on it. You should be able to find one around $300 if you look hard enough.

Never shot a single six, but I grew up shooting a S&W revolver(think it was a model 6 but not sure?)Very reliable and accurate with a 6" barrel.
Currently I have a P-22 and for the most part no issues with any bullets I've put down the pipe.

Ruger MkII, S&W "new model" 63, S&W "old model" K-22 or the best of the best. For a first gun I'd highly recommend the S&W 63 or K-22 depending on your hand size and what feels best in your hand.

The J-frame S&W Model 63. Stainless steel, eight shot and more than accurate enough to be interesting at the range. I have one that is my full time woods walking gun. I love it. I wish someone made a good speedloader for it.

My favorite is the Sig Trailside Target Model. It didn't last long in the Sig line. It sure is a tack driver. If one can be found on the used marked I would recommend getting it.
