Somebody tell me about Outlaw Steel shooting. What do you shoot? At what distance do you shoot? What equipment is needed?

We have a match this Saturday at Magnolia in Byram.
Pretty much if you can shoot an 8 in pie plate at 15 yards you'll do fine. That's what Cliff told me anyways..
It's 5.00 to play.
5 stages with 5 shots 5 times at each stage.
Lowest time gets knocked off. The others are added.
125 round minimum so bring 200 rounds any you'll have plenty of leftovers.
Come shoot with us! It will be my first match too!

Its a lot of fun...and a lot harder than most people think...switching between squares and round plates at various distances is a challenge. Revo or semi...and of course...mouse guns...I mean 22 LR's....

Bring your long handles this weekend

I might come watch one first, but this weekend is out. Do you start with a holstered weapon or weapon on the table? How many mags should I bring? If I wanted to set up a practice range how many "pie plates" do I need and how are they arranged?

A plate rack would be good practice if you have one.

All you need is your revolver or production gun and 4 or 5 mags and 3 or 4 mag pouches

and thermal underwear this weekend...actually it its gonna be sunny and in the 50's Sat...but it won't be that at setup time

The steel is setup in various stages....some Big Poppers...small ones...small plates....maybe even the evil Texas Star....

reload city rotflmao hint...shoot it top to bottom and she don't swing as bad....That thing can kick your butt

The "STAR" is a humbling experience the first couple time you shoot it. We are going to get some steel for our range and start having a match probably within a few months. Lot of people that shoot our USPSA Matches shoot up there as well.

Anybody got a youtube link? How are classes broken up, 20-30, 31-40, ect or everyone in one group.
How much running around, got bad knees and a rebuilt foot from an accident (really a ready made set of excuses, give me a minute I'll think of a few more).

Sid,

This match is perfect for a new shooters. There isn't much movement. Most of your shooting is done flat-footed. There are 5 steel targets in a typical steel challenge stage. The sizes are: 8", 10", 12" round plates. Also, 18"x21" rectangles. There are some large and small pepper poppers, as well. You engage the steel in the most time efficient manner hitting the "stop plate" last. It will have an orange piece of flagging tape on the base. Always hit this target last.

There will be 5 stages.

The round count is usually 125, but bring about 200 and you'll have some left over.

We'll have a safety briefing for the new shooters before the match.

Set-up is: 7:30

Shooters meeting: 8:45

Match: 9:00

PM me if you need loaner gear as Magnolia and some shooters can help. We're all about the new shooter, so come have some fun.
