Personal Protection in the Home - Class to be offered soon Fri/Sat
Please circulate this information. We would like to have a class that is of maximum attendance. Register ASAP. Our class is less than half the cost of the classes offered elsewhere. If you are from Louisiana, the class will qualify for your firearms training to acquire a Louisiana Concealed Carry Permit.

Our non-profit Gun Club is conducting the following training course in McComb. We would appreciate a public service announcement. Your co-operation on this safety course would be greatly appreciated. All participants of this class will have to be pre-registered. The announcement should be made ASAP.

NRA BASIC PERSONAL PROTECTION, IN THE HOME SAFETY COURSE:
The class will be held on Friday March 5th at 6:00-9:30 PM and Saturday 6th, at 9:00AM until 4:00PM. You must attend both days to be rated in this class. The class will qualify the students completing the course for pistol permit training requirements in States such as Louisiana, Alabama, Florida and Texas. We have the credentials from the Louisiana Highway Patrol that qualifies this course to meet the requirement for firearms training to acquire a Louisiana Concealed Carry Permit.
The Friday Night classroom will be held at Southwest Gun Club’s McComb Range. No student will be allowed to bring any firearms on the night of the class. The Saturday range training and live fire will be conducted at the Southwest Gun Club’s McComb Range Facility. Unloaded personal firearms may be brought to the McComb Range for familiarization and training.
Directions: Exit I-55 at 15-A then coming from McComb on Highway 98 East, look for the large sign for Homestead. The range road is 2 miles East of the Homestead turnoff, on the left side of the road. You will have to go past the road to the next U turn turnaround and come back. Coming from Tylertown, go past the Bogue Chitto Water Park and look for a convenience store on the right. The range road is 2.2 miles on the right. The name of the range road is Edna Drive.
The club will furnish .22 RF, and .38 Special handguns and ammunition for the firing phase of the course. The following subjects will be covered by this course:
1. Basic Firearms Safety
2. Defensive Shooting Safety
3. Safe Firearm Storage
4. Defensive shooting concepts
5. Basic defensive shooting skills
6. Shooting positions
7. Aiming and firing techniques
8. Utilizing cover and concealment
9. Gun handling
10. Opportunities for skills enhancement
11. Making you and your home safer
12. Responding to a possible break-in
13. Confronting an intruder or attacker
14. If you must shoot
15. The aftermath of a defensive shooting
16. Firearms, self defense and the Law
17. The legal aftermath of a defensive shooting
18. Selecting a firearm for personal protection
19. Selecting ammunition for personal protection
20. Selecting firearm accessories
21. Firearm maintenance
22. How to make your home safer
23. How to set up a safe room
24. Information and training resources
25. Facts about the NRA
The cost of the Course is $45.00. Students will receive a bound book with Chapters dealing with each lesson in the course. We have the highest trained civilian instructors and coaches available in Mississippi. For further information, Call Doug Bowser at 601-249-3315 or 341-8797. People should be pre-registered to take this course. The Saturday session will require everyone to have eye and hearing protection, a bag lunch and any type drinks you may want. We will supply ice water and cups.
You must be registered by March 2, 2010. No refunds are given unless the participant cancels before February 28, 2010.

Thanks for the plug. Our class is a lot lower in price than comparable classes given in Louisiana. It is done as a public service.

Update received from Doug:
The fee is $50 not $45. We had to raise the fee because of the cost of ammunition.

The same class in Louisiana can cost as much as $200.00. We do this as a public service.

The class is sold out. It is one of the best classes for the money that is offered in the area.
As far as it beeing on the same weekend as the match, we scheduled the class last September nad had no knowledge of the match at Magnolia.
