MY new SAVAGE

Post by 3spop on Fri Feb 12, 2010 4:45 pm

Well, here she is. Savage 116FCSS in 30.06. This gun is exactly what I've been wanting. It has the accutrigger, the accustock, the new bolt release in front of the trigger guard, removeable centerfeed magazine, the new super soft recoil pad, the new smooth barrel nut, and I think the appearance of the stock is slightly different than recent models also. I already love it.
On a side note, ya'll ever notice that it is darn near impossible to take a good digital picture of a long gun. At least I ain't figured it out yet.

Don't seem right to see a Savage without the notches in the barrel nut!

Resize your pictures before posting...or take a wider shot...it tends to chop

Nice looking rifle...what ya gonna scope it with?...Y 30'06?...I figured you'd probably have 4 or 5 of those already

This gun will be getting used on a regular basis. We got serious problems up here with deer, hogs, coyotes, bobcats, and especially those bad guy paper targets. Cool
The .06 is just a cal I have alot of faith in. I was torn for a while between it and the .308.
I'm a little scope poor right now, so it will be getting a 2 year old Burris euro-diamond 4x12x50 ballistic plex. I'm going to go with the Burris xtreme tactical bases. They'll give me a little more flexibility in the scope mounting with the long action.

Lay the rifle against a wall and take a pic of it. Or lay it on the ground and use a ladder to look down on it. Smile

I traded for a 116 FCSS 30-06 about a year and a half ago at the gun show. It was just before they came out with the AccuStock, so I've got the tupperware version. But it has the AccuTrigger, and it is a sweet shooting gun. I caught a steal on a Nikon Buckmaster scope someone was selling for $110 to top it off. It has become my go-to deer rifle. Congrats on a great looking gun!

Now where can we find spare magazines for these things?

Very nice!!!! I have one each in 243, 308, and 300WSM..... the 243 is the stainless similar to yours.... it and the 300 are tack drivers! (issues with the 308 -its the BTH model - need to pull it out and sight in again)

I have a Burris euro diamond 3x12x50 with ballistic plex mounted with warne rings and a 1 piece warne picatinny base. I love the scope. It is very bright at dawn and dusk. It isn't loaded with eye relief though, so I had to go with the picatinny base on the long action.
