Savage Bull Barrel 22 Mag

Post by rdj94a on Mon Feb 15, 2010 2:18 pm

I have bought one, haven't tried it yet. How good do they shoot? Anyone got one?

It has been a week -- how does it shoot? How you like it?

I don't have one. My brother-in-law has one with a sporter taper barrel and it shoots jack rabbit headshots out to about 150 yards with good regularity. His is an older model that he's had abpout twenty years. Hope it helps.

My B-I-L lives in west Texas. Rabbits are considered non-game as five rabbits will eat as much grass as one cow every day. Cows count more than rabbits in west Texas. He shoots every rabbit, both Jack and Cottontail, that he sees and the Savage rides in his farm truck 24/7. Yours with the new accutrigger probably shoots much better than his old beater.

I have always liked the 22mag however the cost of ammo was the main reason I stayed away. When I fell into 1800 rounds of CCI, I decided to go buy a rifle. I had been reading about the new savage for a long time. I was basically waiting until I found what I wanted for a scope. At the Hattiesburg Gunshow I bought a 3x9x40 wide field Redfield,(illuminator) still in the original box with all the paperwork. My wheeler scope mounting kit came in yesterday. I have to get my bore sighter ordered. I'm in no hurry, I just want this thing to be right.

I can't say anything about the .22 mag but have shot the .22 lr and .17 many, many rounds. They are both excellent shooters.

Guess I'm getting old I haven't shot the USP either, however I have decided to keep it and I have bought some ammo at least.
