smith and wesson sigma

what do you know about this pistol? i want to know what you think about this pistol

It has a very heavy trigger. I dont own one and wouldnt ever, but I shot my friends the other day. He is a novice shooter and couldnt hit with it. It also jams easy if you limp wrist it, but that happens alot with many guns.

+1 on the heavy trigger and easy, regular jams. I shot one that belongs to a buddy and he couldn't hit with it so he asked me to shoot it. I couldn't hit with it either. It is junk as far as I'm concerned. The M&P is another story. I don't own a handgun I can shoot as accurately as another buddy's M&P 40.

Own both the Sigma (.40S&W) and M&P (9mm) and have two friends that own Sigmas. I would not trade my M&P for two Sigmas ... However, I must be fair ... It does have a "heavy" trigger pull; however, if the Sigma is all you own and get use otthe trigger pull, it is an fairly accurate pistol. One of my friends swears by it - it is the only pistol he owns and is the only one he routinely shoots. I have never had a jamming problem with mine even with my reloads ... I just like the M&P much better ..

It's a good budget gun. That's about all I can say.

The jams I experienced were stovepipes. It fed every round. It just had trouble ejecting them. I'm not sure I could ever get used to that trigger and I don't know if it can be improved.

that is what has been said generally. i think i would rather save for something better than use my money on that

I shot one once it had a very heavy and long trigger pull but once you got use to the tigger it would shoot reasonably well. It would not be my first choice for a budget pistol.

Glock 17 or Glock 19 Good budget gun...extremely reliable...no FTF, FTE

Trigger can be tweaked pretty easy with 3.5 or 5.0 lb connector

Shoot the heck out of it...Worst part of a Glock is the plastic sights...They break with competition use...but for every day use they hold up fine.

im either going with a glock or the new taurus.

If it has a plastic frame, I would not own it.

Waste of money in my opinion. My stepson had one for about 2 weeks before he dumped it. Worse trigger I have ever shot I believe.

The Sigma's really aren't all that great. I'd probably buy a Hi-Pernt before the Sigma and they are about the cheapest (and ugliest) thing you'll find but some people speak well of them.

Hi-jacking in Progress

Since this appears to be your first gun, the main thing you have to do is find a gun that feels good in your hand and then has the highest quality that fits your budget. If it doesn't feel good then it's not going to be fun to shoot. If you're looking for the cheapest thing that might have decent quality (in a "name brand") then you're most likely going to be looking at a Ruger or Taurus of some sort. Just my here. Those two brands will most likely have the most variety to choose from and could have decent quality for the price point (especially used). The new SR9 is not a bad gun for plastic and if you want metal then you could probably find a P90 (or similar depending on what caliber you want). Taurus has a few offerings that aren't all that bad either. But you might want to save a little longer and get a nice Sig, higher end Smith, Glock, etc. A couple of hundred goes a long way on a gun purchase and it really depends on what purpose this gun needs to fulfil.

its not my entirely first handgun. it will be my first to own but not my first to shoot extensively or have around for an extended period of time.
so.. i dont think im a "beginner."
just never bought a handgun.

I certainly wouldn't disagree with that. A good wheel gun is hard to beat.

yeah. thats what im thinking. fun to shoot. im thinking on a 357 so that i can shoot 38 spl. also...
