I think gun rights people (myself included) don't make enough noise around here. I know that's the case in my area. Lee County is slap full of hunters, gun owners, and shoot for fun-ers, but when you bring it up the biggest portion of them have no clue as to the gun laws of our state or of the attempts to get new legislation passed. Myself and a couple of the men in my church are trying to organize a family pic-nic/shooting day for our church. We are in the beginning phases of it but we are hoping it will become regular outing. Perhaps even on a once a month basis. (And if anyone wants to organize a second amendment rally in Jackson I'm there!) thumbs up

I know this post is a little late, but I just wanted to share this with everyone:

"As of February 22, 2010, a new federal law allows people who can legally possess firearms under applicable federal, state, and local laws, to legally possess firearms in this park. It is the responsibility of visitors to understand and comply with all applicable state, local, and federal firearms laws before entering this park."

"Any firearm that is prohibited by State or Federal law is prohibited on the Parkway.

Mississippi State Law Synopsis (Mile Post 1-310)

  1. Any Firearm that is legal to possess under state law may be carried in your personal vehicle while traveling the Natchez Trace Parkway.
  2. You may not possess a handgun on your person outside of your vehicle within the boundary of the Natchez Trace Parkway"

Natchez Trace Parkway Firearm Policy

But you are allowed to carry out your vehicle in AL and TN if you have a "valid state permit". Wonder why the difference?

I was wondering if the law on trace carry would change and be updated when the new law takes effect. I haven't checked into it but was kinda waiting to see in July.... I probably should be more inquisitive. thinking

is a MS "ccw" required to be allowed to carry my XD loaded, and holstered in my car while on the trace?

....forgive my ignorance on this one guys, I've been MIA from this thread, and honestly do not want to read through 6 previous pages to get the RIGHT answer.

If it did not look too much like rain, I would strap on the S&W M&P, jump on the bike and ride the trace!!

So let me get this straight... concealed carry is now legal in all MS state parks and National parks, right? What about National forests and WMAs? I do a good bit of backpacking in the Clear Springs area in Franklin Co and I want to know if its legal to carry a weapon with me
