Man it should be a sin to post those minds of pictures. I had a rifle like the one on top, and seeing that makes me miss it.

Leadsled, NO! The Front and Rear rest have cordura bags that I spray w/ silicon. If you do not have your shoulder to it or your hand behind it, it will slide off of the table. Our server out here blocks Youtube so I can't get to the video to post a link. But if you will go to youtube and do a search for "Indy Shooting", you will find the video of my girlfriend shooting the Heavy at 400 yards. She shot a 10 shot 1.5" group at 400 during the video.

Re: A couple of Pea Shooters
Yep! The only factory ammo I buy is Pistol and Shotgun! I couldn't afford to buy the guns and Factory ammo to feed them! Also they don't make factory for these Chamberings. Although .300 Weatherby is the parent case for the ATLAS, a loaded .300 WBY neck diameter is .335"! .001" to large for the Chamber. My loaded rounds are .332". The Chamber has a tapered neck, .335" at the neck/shoulder junction and .334" at the case mouth. Shooting a 210 gr. Berger VLD at 3050 fps using 79.5 gr. of REL25 and Norma Cases. I start w/ unfired Norma .300 WBY, Cheap Large rifle Primer, 14 gr. of Unique Pistol Powder, Fill w/ Cream of Wheat cereal and shake it down to the NK/Shoulder junction, then pack a 1/4 of a sheet of toilet paper to seal the case. Then spray w/ One shot case lube and fire. Out comes ATLAS. Then expand and neck turn. And you are ready.

Re: A couple of Pea Shooters
wow, now thats pretty neat.I guess with the fast burning Unique it expands the case for you?
What type of "gauge" do you use to check for how deep to seat the bullets?
Sorry if its hijacking, just tryin to figure some stuff out for my ole .270 shooting Berger VLDs.

Re: A couple of Pea Shooters
I use the chamber to gauge the seating depth. I use a empty resized case w/ the bullet seated long and close the bolt on it. Checking for Rifling marks. Once I determine maximum cartride OAL I run this dummy round into the seater and lower the seating stem down until it contacts the bullet. Then I back the seating stem up .015". Resulting in a .015" Jam on the loaded round.
With your 270 Win., use heaviest Berger VLD that your twist rate will stabilize. Start w/ it Jammed .015" into the lands. You can adjust the seating depth once you find which powder/charge the barrel likes. Also if you start w/ a jam you can seat the VLD deeper and releave some of the chamber pressure.
