Question about firearms permit

Post by MattC8444 on Tue Mar 02, 2010 4:56 pm

I just received my firearms permit in the mail today. Does this replace my DL, the reason I ask is because it looks like my DL but different color?

No, the firearms permit doesn't replace your DL.

No question is stupid -- YES, it looks like your DL ... in size, shape, etc ...

(b) The licensee must carry the license, together with valid identification, at all times in which the licensee is carrying a concealed pistol or revolver and must display both the license and proper identification upon demand by a law enforcement officer. A violation of the provisions of this paragraph (b) shall constitute a noncriminal violation with a penalty of Twenty-five Dollars ($25.00) and shall be enforceable by summons.

The only dumb question is the one you don't ask! Glad there are not alot of smart a$$es on this forum like there are on alot of the other gun forums. Everbody is not and expert on everything and the only way to learn is ask. 2 cents

Amen!

I would rather ask something stupid than do something stupid. Asking is free, stupid mistakes usually cost you something. (time, money, fingers, life, etc.)

It is good that folks feel comfortable asking questions.

Hope it stays that way as the forum grows....

Congrats on the firearms permit

Should you be stopped by the police, your drivers license is keyed in with your CCW, so that the officer knows you have the permit. Just a bit of info to have.

By reading that, I wonder if the permits use to be just a card without a photo. Because it is a valid state issued ID within itself.

Just curious about that. I shall ask my friend that works at the MDPS next time I talk to him.
