armed robbery
Vicksburg authorities are searching for a suspect who fled from an armed robbery at a Mexican restaurant and convenience store Thursday night.
Meanwhile, police have located the man’s accomplice. He was found dead in a wooded area near the U.S. 61/I-20 westbound access ramp this morning.
Neither man has been identified by police.
Assistant Vicksburg Police Chief Jeffery Scott said two men entered the convenience store on U.S. 61 South just before 9 p.m. Thursday and put a semi-automatic rifle to the clerk’s head.
“They ordered her to the ground and struck her in the back of the head,” Scott said.
The men then stole cash and merchandise from the store and robbed a male customer who was inside. No one was shot during the robbery.
The store’s owner, who was inside the attached restaurant when the robbery occurred, drove after the suspects’ vehicle.
“He was following closely, trying to get their tag, when (the suspects) turned around and opened fire,” Scott said. “(The owner) returned fire, striking at least one of the suspects. This individual jumped (from the car) off the access ramp.”
Scott said police located him about 6:30 a.m. after a passing driver reported seeing a body under the ramp.
Warren County sheriff’s deputies and a Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics helicopter assisted Vicksburg police as officers conducted a search through the nearby wooded area this morning that recovered the stolen money and merchandise. However, the second suspect has not been found.
“We called off the search, but we have alerted hospitals in Madison Parish, La., Port Gibson, Natchez and Jackson,” Scott said.
The owner of the restaurant and store has not been charged in the chase and subsequent exchange of gun fire.
“Once our investigation is complete, we will present our findings to a Warren County grand jury,” said Scott.

Re: armed robbery
Good for him! Low life scum taking other people's money & bashing in the clerk's head need killing.
I think this will become more common place in the days to come. There's not enough cops so they aren't handy when this stuff goes down. We've got to be able & willing to protect ourselves & our property.

Yep. Good for him.
Some people just need killing.
But I fear the DA and a grand jury may indict the owner. Chasing them down and shooting them is a little outside of self defense and the castle law.
But he saved the county a ton of money.
PS: They were all Mexicans (robbers and store owner).

Re: armed robbery
Recon the one that got shot had some "help" jumpin' out that car? No honor among thieves. That car was probably stolen too so they'll find the burn out hull in the next few days.

Re: armed robbery
Two rifles (one SKS, other unknown) vs. One hand gun
Good shootin'.
The suspects stopped b/c they crashed (flipped) their get-a-way car.
The Vicksberg PD said they won't be charging the business owner.

Hunt continues for escaped armed robbery suspect
VICKSBURG, MS (WLBT) – The hunt continued Saturday for a Vicksburg armed robbery suspect who escaped after getting into a shootout with a store owner Thursday.
Vicksburg police said the business owner who fatally shot one of the two men won't be charged.
V.P.D. Assistant Police Chief Jeffery Scott said the unnamed suspect fired first and was shot and killed in self defense.
The two men held up the La Chiquita Grocery Store on Highway 61.
Police are looking for an Hispanic male in his mid-twenties to early thirties.
According to investigators, the two held a rifle to the store clerk's head, hit her in the back of the head and took cash, merchandise and a customer's wallet.
The store owner chased the gunmen's car which crashed on an overpass.
Scott said they got out, and one shot at the store owner, who then returned fire.

Re: armed robbery
Someone close should buy this man a box of ammo! He should save his $ for a ballistic vest.
I agree that these types of crimes will continue to happen at an alarming rate due to the increasing population of (insert many diferent words here). People that think they deserve what everyone else works hard for due to the current system of government programs and hand outs. We are entering a very trying time for society in America. Stay armed, Stay villigent and take responsibility for you and your loved ones safety and personal possessions like this man did.

I am so glad the good guy won't be charged. I know this sounds bad but that thief got what he deserved. Criminals aren't afraid of prison any more, let's see how they feel about lead poisoning. I have armed myself and my spouse because we refuse to be sheep anymore. The motto I've picked for my small gun business is "Citizens, arm yourselves!" and I believe in it. Let's all agree to fight back.
