Today at Magnolia's Annual Meeting....
Well.... Magnolia Rifle & Pistol Club's FY2010 has started. The weather was GREAT and a bunch of members came out to enjoy a day at the range.
I do know that IPSC, ICORE, Renegade Steel, and Hi-Power demo-ed their programs. Maybe others... but I didn't get a chance to go see them. Busy with member renewals, a BOD meeting, the member's meeting, door prizes, shooting a CANNON, and the Range & Usage Safety Course (and shooting a CANNON again...).
Here are some pictures from today.......................

Many more members were there, but not shown. I estimate about 350 members attended today. Over 600 pre-paid for 2010, and we picked up about 80 new members today.

Who are these guys...? I think they slipped in because the gate was open.......
Hammer was also there and talked to the membership about MSGO and the Meet & Greet at Magnolia on May 8th. Plus Hammer said he and other MSGO members handed out a BUNCH of MSGO cards. (Hey Hammer, where are my new MSGO t-shirts...?)
Between the door prize drawings and the Range Usage & Safety Course, I got to pull the chord on the cannon the Civil War guys had there. My first pull was a "dud", but the other two were FRIGGIN GREAT ! ! !
Take a lookie................

I want to thank JP (buddy from work) and the Civil War reenactors (46th Mississippi) for again setting up camp at Magnolia during the Annual Meeting (and battling the Boy Scouts
). I still think they should load that cannon with paintballs and "work on" the Boy Scouts......
Unlucky me didn't win any of the 25 guns and a bunch of other door prizes today. However, I did have a lucky ticket (1 of 4) to win the opportunity to SHOOT a CANNON. Made my day................

I've seen that captain guy scrounging for lead wheel weights around the interstate off ramps. Cut him a wide berth.

Captain was taking bets you'd have the pics up tonight. No takers. Good to have a visual record of the day. Thanks Dan.

It was a good day for the annual meeting. A bit cool to start with, but warmed up nicely. I did not know I was speaking until Subgun asked me about it. Had my speech ready and forgot it when I got to the mike. Oh well, I think I winged it ok.

It was good to meet some of y'all. I went up and introduced myself to Captain and Hammer, I guess I now know who SubGunFan is!
I am a first-time member at Magnolia, and lucked up and won a gun case/glasses/ear protection. Also got to shoot the Garand that one of the guys had out there. Definitely a good day!!

Re: Today at Magnolia's Annual Meeting....
It was a lot of fun shootin the breeze...I left empty handed as well. Had a sinus thing going on as well and it has me at home today instead of shooting USPSA
One of the things that struck me was with all those members there....why can't WE be more effective in getting better pro-gun laws in Mississippi...the current Park BS going on....The MS leg. should respect us when we call.
The other thing that struck me...Is this might just be one the last places on earth where guns can be given away...
You don't give away Rem 870's, Savage Bolt .308's and Ruger 10/22 in places like Mass and NY

Looks like yall had a great turnout! Thanks for the cannon video! For a moment I thought you were refering to Cap's 500!
If everyone there joined up and told one friend we would be well over 1000 members by July 4th!

I wish we had black powder cannons... We're forced to settle for modern weapons.

I passed by the other day, but didn't know that's what was going on. Is that the only day when you can join?
