Then there's:

Grizzly Ammunition 444 Marlin 300 Grain PUNCH Box of 20
Product #: 889106
Status: Out of Stock, Backorder OK
Our Price $97.99

Looks like 5 manufacturers, 3 of whom are Cor-bon, Grizzly & Buffalo Bore.

At least there are now more options in factory ammo.

Closer to $40 dollars on the Hornady unless it's gone up again.

IU cannot bring myself to fire a Handi-Rifle. Not having double bolt lugs on a Mauser style bolt seems to me to be a weak action. I guess I am old fashioned.

Very easy to fit the barrels yourself, and sometimes they drop right in. I prefer the 45-70. It is just all around a great round. If it kicks to hard load it lighter.

Please explain more. H&R/NEF reccomends sending them in, but if its not to hard to fit then that info may be good to know.

Get me straight, if you have a 45-70 and send it in for a 35 whelen, can you change back and forth or are you stuck with the caliber you change it to only?

Lots of times the barrels fit perfect. You just need a feeler guage to make sure you are good. If not it only requires some emory paper and a whetstone most of the time. On Greybeards page they break it down EASY with pictures in the FAQs. You just work on the underlug a little and remove a little or add a shim if needed. I fit a 30-30 barrel in about 20 minutes a month ago.

they misbarreled a 223 of mine. it took 6 weeks to get back. but, it had been cleaned and fixed. it now shoots very accurately. VERY accurately

they modify the barrel, not the receiver so any barrel fitted to a receiver will interchange...

My 444 was a tack driver! Haven't shot the 44 yet. Been pretty busy with work.

They have to have the receiver to make sure they've modifiedthe barrel enough I guess. So they know it locks up properly

OK, that makes sense Joe. Wonder if they keep the spec's on your rifle if you wanted to get several calibers over time. I'd like a .223 and a 35 Whelen to start but also a 30.06 or something in that range also.

I wouldn't think so. I wonder why they don't make the receivers like the TC so you can just buy any barrel you want.
