The good news and the bad news

Post by Doug Bowser on Thu Mar 11, 2010 7:17 am

The CMP has Greek ammo again. The bad news is it is $.50 per round. A far cry from the DCM sales in the 1960's. The ammo was $.03 per round for .30 M2 Ball and ,30 M1 Carbine Ball.

Started buying M2 ball from CMP in 2004. I checked some of my invoices:

Dec '04: Lake City .23 per round
Jun '07: Lake City .26 per round
Feb '08: HXP .26 per round
Mar '08: HXP .31 per round in Clips
Jan '09: HXP .32 per round

Now in Feb '10 HXP is more than .50 per round. Too rich for my blood. Glad I got plenty of brass!! While I have a pretty rich supply on hand, reloading this is certainly in my future.

Been reloading for a long time for what I shoot. But do have some of their LC I bought many years ago and some HXP when they used it for the National Match. Guess that was around 2005 if memory serves.

Bought some of their brass when I worked there back when you could volunteer. Put together 03's for two days.

Also have the adjustable gas plugs so could shoot anything.

The Garands will not go unfed.

That price is upsetting! No Government subsidy since privatized by Slick Willie. Or just maybe what they have to pay now too. Either way it's sad.
