Here's the Mossberg Stryker6 told me about. It ain't as purty as a M1 carbine, but it's growing on me. Still having a problem with that vertical grip.

Hope the link works, first time trying this.

i hear ya, i started w/ a .22. my recomendation to get her to start shooting a handgun would be a small .22 that has no recoil and work up from there.

How about a S&W Model 29 .44MAG The shear Intimadation Factor will scare most off. NAW J/K'ing

I put my vote in for and 870 Youth 20ga. You can have for a HD or she go shoot most anything hunted if you could talk her into it. Challenge her to shoot skeet or just something to get her shooting. More she will shoot it, the more confidence builder it would be. Also make sure she knows that one of the top 5 most recognizable sounds in the world is the "RACKING" of an 870 pump shotgun. you know what i mean just like everybody else will agree what that sound means. Run for your life cause somebodies loaded now.

Even birds know that sound well. Everytime i loaded my shotgun yesterday birds flew and i never could hit any.. lol

I like showing people how to shoot. My previous girlfriend (bout the same build as your lady) had never shot a gun before so i started her out with a Walter P22. She moved up to the XD service model .40 by the second time we went to shoot. With the proper grip and my light reloads she loved it. Second time we went to shoot i got the 10/22 out and when she got comfortable with it she wanted to shoot the AR. Lets just say she went thru about 5 30rd mags before i could convince her to put it down. She was hooked from then on.

She freaked out for a second when she found out that i always Carried thumbs up

Too bad all that didnt work out but atleast she now knows how to shoot, and shoot well.

The Beretta CX4 Storm would make a good HD weapon, particularly for someone of small stature...

http://www.cx4storm.com/index.aspx?m=53&did=73

you can get it in 9mm, .40 S&W, or .45APC....

410 loaded with some 00. She can shoot it all day and it will do the job if needed.

Welll...Here's what I did...
Went shopping Monday for a .410 pump, also looked at 20 ga. as a backup plan. Didn't find anything that I liked. But, found this"
Smith & Wesson 2206. All stainless, 6 " barrel, 2 12-round mags, heavy sucker--39 ozs.
Anyway, I didn't buy it, after all I was looking for a shotgun. But I kept thinking about it all day.
That night I did a little research on the Smith forum. Everyone said it was pretty accurate, reliable, ate everything, and was easy to clean. Then I checked in here and there were a couple more comments about a .22 being a good trainer. And then, the clincher, I counted my "shootin' stash" and had $269 exactly. The price on the gun...$269 OTD. Unbelievable. I took it as a sign from above.

Needless to add, the next morning it was mine.(er, the wife's). Our 15th anniversary is next Saturday. I hope she likes it.

I plan on putting some rounds through it tomorrow pm, but may get rained out.

I mentioned M & G II to her for the first time today. She didn't say yes, but she didn't say no. All I got was a quizzical look.
Hopefully she'll like "her" pistol, and be ready to move up a month or two.

I really think it's the perfect solution, and thanks to all that offered advice.

shoe.
