My first wheel gun

Post by mike718 on Tue Mar 23, 2010 8:48 pm

I order this last week and pick this up yesterday afternoon. My very first revolver; it is a S&W 340PD. I sold both my Ruger LCP and Sig P250 so I can buy this. This is replacing my Ruger LCP for a pocket gun.

It is a .357 Mag but it can also load .38 spl. I am going to load with .357 Mag cool 2 gun when I CC and .38 on the range.

It is definately not a gun you should put alot of rounds through. If its your primary carry gun just shoot a cylinder through it everytime you go to the range.

it's not that bad is it? Every time I tell people that I carry an all steel gun they say it to heavy.

OT I'm willing to bet it hurts to shoot .38's out of it.

.38's aren't bad at all! I shot them through a Rossi .38 I ahd and weren't bad in it either! Haven't tried .357's though, may be a different story! The gun is not really heavy when you compare it to an all steel 1911!

My wife selected the Ruger LCR with laser as her CCW. She thought it was a little snappy at first when using the 38 +P's and switched to wad cutters to practice with, now loves it. By the way she is a deadly shot with it.

I see yours has the "evil" trigger lock. I'm Glad S&W got over putting these in their guns...They make me uneasy...my 642 has one also.

Hopefully no issues...They are carried a lot...shot little

I am sad that I have to sent this gun back to S&W for repair. When I shot it last week, it pitted the cylinder. I shot 5 round of Hornady Critical Defense when it happen. It was a warning on the gun not to use bullet less than 120 gr but I was shooting 125gr...
