XD mods...

Post by Methos on Tue Apr 06, 2010 9:13 pm

Here's a couple of xd accessories I added recently. I lub them. The extended slide stop is from xdguys.com. Muuuuch better than stock. The extended mag release button is actually a ed brown button I took off a 1911 extended release I had onhand. I drilled and tapped the original xd mag release onto which it is screwed. With these mods I can now eject reload and recharge without moving my palm grip on the gun. Something that is hard to do with short fingers and oem parts on the XD. Thought you all might like to check them out. I can recommend both. Slide release is about 35.00 and the button is 9.00. Drill and tap will take a teeny bit of mechanical tech but can be done. These together with the night sights and springer precision trigger job finish up my add-ons for this gun.

Nice!

I have the Heine pro slant 8 night sights and a Springer Precision trigger in my Service model. I love it.

that is pretty cool!

is that your carry gun? if so, are you not worried the extended mag release will cause premature (mag) ejections...

my xdm had just the stock one, and everytime i got in my truck it would bump the console and eject the mag... but i am a big guy...

Just curious, but this gun isn't for USPSA Production, is it?

powerstrokin06: I did all the work on my gun myself. However, I DO NOT recommend installing sights yourself unless you have the correct tool; which is expensive. Its best to send it off to get this done. The sights are ridiculously tight and you can easily damage the tritium inserts if you use a punch. Its hard to see in the pic but my rear sight has some peening marks on it where i screwed up the finish with a punch. I say again - they are extraordinarily tight. All the other mods were simple.

Joe: I thought about this before I put the button on, but my short fingers necessitate it. When I carry this gun its usually in a safariland 6354 als type holster which poses no problems. Its fairly stiff to push, but it probably can be accidentally triggered. For problem free year round defense, i carry my ruger sp101 .357 DAO.

Cliff: no, its not. I've never competed before other than some pistol silhouette many years ago.
