Allow me to tell a short story. When I was probably 10 or 12 years old my Dad started letting me shoot a handgun. It was his Revelation '76' in .22lr. I had tons of fun shooting that gun during my teenage years. He even had a western style belt for it. I went through thousand of rounds for about 8 or 10 years there. Then I bought my first very own handgun. It was the new Colt 1991-A1. I fell in love with than gun, and semiautos in general. I was shooting several of my friends autos also. In the last 15 years I've bought and sold and bought and kept several more autos, most in 45 acp and 22lr. Well a few months ago, I was able to purchase 2 Rugers from a guy at a very good price. The price was really the main reason I bought them. They are a 6.5" single six convertible and a Blackhawk .41 rem mag in 6.5" also. Let me tell you, I have been having a blast shooting these guns! The singel six is just flat out fun to shoot. Period. The .41 is the only large caliber revolver I've ever had. I have been reloading for it with a friends help and shooting it more and more. I can shoot the gun very accurately. I will be trying to lay down some deer and hogs with it this year.

I just forgot how much fun it is to shoot a wheelgun. I find myself looking for more now. Ya'll don't forget the wheelies. They might inspire a new excitement in your shooting as they have mine.

I love wheelie's...Tried and true...No doubt in my mind the best handgun for a new or casual shooter.

Like a lot of folks, my 1st experience with handguns was revolvers. I'm a big 1911 fan, as well as other autos, but recently have been rebuilding my wheelgun collection. 629 Backpacker snubbie, DW pistol pack, and a few others. Just sent off the money order for a H&R 22 special top break a man in SC had...should get it soon.

Not really many new wheelies that strike my fancy, I like looking for the older ones no longer in production...just fun shooters. I do want a wheelie in .45acp next, just not sure which one I'm going to get.

I'm right there with you, Silent. I want a .45acp revolver in the worst way and I cannot make up my mind. The first one that I saw that I really liked was a Taurus Tracker but since then I have found a S&W that is topping the list. Decisions, decisions...

You'll like that H&R, Silent. Wish I still had mine. Got two trackers. There are better revolvers but can't beat the price.

Oh I know I'll like it, was looking for a 999 sportsman, but the only one I found looked like they tied it to the back of a monster truck had to pass on that one lol. @JMS I really want a 1917, but most of those have been snatched up by collectors.

I have found a new appreciation for revolvers. Just got back from the range about 10 minutes ago after running 100 rds through the 686 ... got a S&W 19-4 that I also like to shoot; but the 686 is my favorite. Bet I have put 1500 rds through her in the past month. Before then, I would bet I had not put 500 rds through it in 4 years ..... I just like 'em!!

That 1917 would be a treasure to have, Silent. There's a mint condition one on Guns America right now but I just can't afford the damage. I was hoping to get to the gun show this weekend to look around and see if I could find any but had too much work to do around the house (cash black hole).

I'm giving some serious thought to taking the Ruger Vaquero 45LC I've got up for sale and seeing how much it would cost to have it adapted to also shoot .45acp. I've read some posts that it can be done. I know they make some convertible models that have two cylinders but I'm under the impression that the cylinder in mine can be modified to shoot both. That'd be pretty sweet and I'd just keep it.

Slips my mind at the moment, but there are a few that do the cylinder conversion for with or without moon rings. Gemini Customs is the only one I can think of...got company so can't google it right now. Would make a nice SA though for sure.

Just thought of something, Uberti offers a .45 colt with a spare cylinder in .45acp ( Regulator). Not sure if Ruger will fit a acp cylinder to yours, but it won't hurt to give them a call. Think that's the only way you can shoot both from the same gun, since the 2 rounds headspace differently.

Charter Arms is supposed to be coming out with a small revolver (bulldog frame I think) that chambers auto cartridges. They will have one for 9mm, .40, and THE .45 ACP!

Had an old Colt snubnose in .22 which was a great shooter. Traded it and regret it.

I would love to have one in .40 S&W, but if I ever get a 1911 I will look at the 45 acp one as well. I love the thunder ranch S&W makes! Its sweet!

I have a Dan Wesson 44 mag I picked up recently and like it a lot. I'm about to have it recoated as the finish is horrible. I also hope to find the accessories like came with it originally. I'd love to have all 4 barrels and all the other stuff that came with it new. It is a GREAT shooter and I hope to take a deer with it next season. And maybe a hog

Sometimes you can find barrels and shrouds on GB, cases too. Took me forever to find a complete set in .357 that was in descent shape. Found this on another forum a few years ago...really smooth action.

I look on there a good bit. Just not sure what a fair price is on the accesories so afraid to bid too much. I will keep watchin and get it together eventually

Silent, that's a beautiful pistol pack. I looked for a complete one (for a reasonable price) sometime back but never could find one. I think it's one of the more unique setups in the revolver arena. The grips on yours are awesome.
