No. You can't touch it.
I had an interesting experience in a pawn shop in Union over the weekend. I was on a scavenger hunt for an old beat up 12 ga single shot when I stopped into this "gentleman's" establishment. He had a couple of old clunkers that might have been just what I was looking for but a reproduction "Tommy gun" caught my eye first. I asked if I could check it out. He told me "I just oiled it and I don't want anyone toughing it unless they are going to buy it." Really? I politely said "ok" and left the shop. I then went to Philadelphia Gun and Pawn (great folks) and purchased an old single shot.
Have you ever been told you couldn't touch a gun by a shop owner? I thought this was a little strange. That's not a great way to gain customers. Granted, it his gun in his shop and he can do with it what ever he wants but, it did cost him a sale.

Never had anyone tell me that. Who is gonna buy a gun they can't even touch, much less inspect? Not me that's for sure.

Never heard that. They usually ask which one you want to see.

This same fella that so anal about his gun probably doesn't even have a gun mat to put on his counter while showing a gun...most just lay em up on the glass.
I've actually been to a few stores in other states where they had white gloves they made you put on to handle a nice gun....and they used nice gun mats to lay them on...after properly showing you that they were unloaded...
with some of the bozo's I've seen at gun stores...it would not be a bad idea.
He just doesn't want to sell it

That is not very professional at all, I wouldnt go back if I were you.Since I am not you, what is the name of the place so I can avoid it? I dont like to give business to people who are rude to the people inside my computer.

I believe the name of the place is H&H Gun and Pawn. It's on Main St. just before you get to the rail road tracks and Hwy 489.

a gun owner not letting you touch a gun is like going to a restaurant and being forced to order without a menu

For a gun shop not to let you get a feel for the merchandise is a bad business practice.

Had the same thing happen to me many (20+) years ago at a gun show in Corinth (if I remember correctly). The vendor was/is an NFA dealer. He had the first Wildey I had ever seen. I asked to take a look at it and he said no, that was his personal gun. Ok, fine. It cost him the sale of a Desert Eagle that I was looking to buy. His merchandise, his rules, but if he didn't want anyone to examine it, why the heck did he bring it to a gun show?
I've seen the dealer several times over the years, all over the state. I have not, nor will I ever, buy from him, nor will anyone I know.

I've had that happen to me a time or two. When I was living in Michigan some of the larger stores didn't like me handling their expensive firearms/bows I'm assuming because of my age. I hope they are happy with my money being spent elsewhere. Now most of my shopping is done in small shops. I can't really blame them though. In that area, most guys my age hold the gun sideways

Never had that happen but one time I was in a pawn shop around Meridian looking for a Taursus PT-140 to carry. I stumbled on a like new 24/7 and had cash in my pocket. I ask the guy about the price and he told me that if I was one of his regular customers he would have discounted it but since I wasn't he needed the price on the tag. Needless to say I didn't purchase it and now I carry a PT-140 that I bought elsewhere. It was all I could do to keep from asking him how he got any regular customers in the first place.
