I have used it in some old milsurps in order to get the copper build-up removed. IIRC, it has some pretty severe warnings on it stating DO NOT leave it in the bore for more than 15 minutes. I have since moved on to Bore Tech Eliminator ... it works as well as 7.62 Sweets but without the stern warnings .... Really have not found anything that does a "great" job on removing copper ...

I use shooters choice.

It seems to take the copper out as well as the carbon.

I also have some butch's bore shine to try after I exhaust my current supply of shooters choice.

As captain said sweets has some warnings due to the fact that it is a concentrated ammonia based copper remover. I would use it if you had a serious copper build up but less concentrated solvents will be more than adequate if used regularly.

Works better than anything I've used, Shooter's Choice, Butch's, etc., but as the warnings state, don't dare leave it in >15 minutes or even less in the Deep South--if it dries in the barrel, your barrel could be marred. I learned that the hard way.

'Nother product with a strong reputation is http://www.montanaxtreme.com/products/?id=4&product=CopperKiller but I've never used it.

i use the Sweets 7.62 stuff all the time in my rifles..
Mop it in for a minute and then start running dry patchs thru it till it comes out dry.
Then throw some Remoil on some patchs and finish it up..

I cleaned my .270 for awhile then put 75rds thru it and then went on to shoot my good bullets and its never shot that good before... So ill just use that excuse.. Very Happy

I have always used Hoppe's #9. Since I have been a HP rifle shooter for years and I have been able to get 9,000 to 10,000 rounds of target accurate use out of a barrel, I see no reason to change.
