Surplus City Indoor Range Question(s)

Its been a long time...I used to be a member there but they kinda let the range setup go to pot. The other thing was it was hot as blue blazes in there in the summer....no a/c

Yes you will need to take your own rest...I dunno if they will allow a stool or not...I imagine so.

The only thing I've used in the last decade was the 50 yrd rifle range. They have a couple other handgun bays...and as usual you have to be careful some other idiot 2 doors down does not muzzle sweep you

I think $15 an hr is the range fee

Why you wanna shoot at SC for $15 hr when you got the Mag?

I guess it might come in handy on a rainy or windy day....

I used to like to go to SC range at night but they closed the range at night long ago 'cept right before deer season when all the bubbas want to come site in on the 50 yard

I'd much rather shoot at Magnolia Rifle Pistol Club...course I have my own private places to shoot as well....

I go occasionally. The handgun and rimfire areas have a flat counter type rest. But they are too high to sit in a chair and use.

There is no "rest".

I don't think they have any stools to sit on.

There are several rooms, and each room has 3 or 4 separate bays with carpeted walls separating the shooters from each other.

It gets loud when someone is shooting next to you or even in the next room.

The centerfire range is separate by maybe 40 feet or so.

you can go in the 50 yard rifle range and do your bench rest. they have chairs and rest there for you. when I was having my problems with my encore I went there several times just to shoot 2 rounds and they didn't even charge me.

Everytime I have ever been in Surplus city they have acting like complete a$$e$ to me and I refuse to be a customer of theres. There is no point being rude unless something is wrong.

I go over there maybe twice a week ('cause I am such a lousy shot!). It is hot in the summer/cold in the winter. Was VERY hot in there this past Saturday. I joined for six months, but do not know if I will renew. There are no rests that I have seen. Staff there is . . . aloof . . . would not call them unfriendly. Just not friendly. Just my .02

This is my story relative to Surplus City USA in Clinton MS .

My wife had to be in Jackson, Mon-Fri, 9/28-10/2/09. So, like a good boy I decided to just tag along – might even get some play-time in.

Had done some web searching and found the shooting range at Surplus City USA in Clinton MS. So that Monday morning I drove over to Surplus City getting there when the place opened. There was no one else shooting; had the place to myself.

I was there for the sole purpose of shooting so the staff attitudes never really registered. My only complaint, if I have one, is I do not like having to buy their targets. I’d rather use my own. And (not to be too picky but) I didn’t much care for the selection available. But that really doesn’t matter.

Got in my time, undisturbed, on the range, packed up, and went back to the hotel.

Must have enjoyed it ‘cause I went back that Thursday for a repeat. Got there when they opened; had the range to myself.

If I find myself back in Jackson again, with play-time on my hands, I’d probably go back again. It just answers the need for a place to shoot.
