Cabin Fever!

Post by crossedcannons45 on Sun May 02, 2010 9:29 am

I swear I'm going to lose my friggin mind if I dont get some range time soon. I am so sick of dry firing my guns, I have cleaned them (unnecissarily) about 3 times in the past 2 weeks just to have some interaction with them aside from carrying them. My wife has to work until the 45th of septemburary before she has a day off to watch the kids while I go make noisy holes in paper and I have final exams next week so there is no hope within sight. I suppose my purpose behind this is to vent and maybe see how you guys deal with this ( aside from going to the range) cause I know I cant be the only one who has this problem.

gonna go dry fire now...

BB gun off the back porch is my method. I am, however, getting started into reoading, just don't have enough components yet!

Have you checked into airsoft? I think you could set up a "range" indoors.

That is the reason I love living outside of town with out a lot of people close by. I can stick one out the door when there is a break in the rain an shoot the stump if nothing else. Granted the wife yells a lil but my daughter thinks its funny.

lol

It didnt even cross my mind but I'll check into it now. I have thought of just going outside and shooting theres a lot being cleared just past the fence and it has burms and would be safe...just illegal since its in the city limits and Im sure my 150 neighbors wouldnt appreciate it.

My airsoft search, although short has provided me with this :http://www.midwayusa.com/viewProduct/?productNumber=245861 which is awesome to say the least. The caveat is that having that and the real M14 that I plan on purchasing before my 32nd birthday could possibly cause confusion and possibly hurt children.

I still have a couple of guns to buy before I dive into reloading if that makes any sense

Oh I got it wife gave me a idea get you a rubber band gun. then you can use the dog, cat, or something like that an have a moveing target.

Then when the wife asks why your pet wont come near you. Just look goofy and use the old I dont know hunny we have been playing all day till you got home.

I have a couple of airsoft guns that came packaged with the "sticky" targets and they work great inside. Wally World and Bass Pro have a really good selection of them! thumbs up I especially like the shot from the top of my stairwell across the living room. lol It beats not getting to shoot anything.

Yeah I just open my back door and shoot from in the house. It real easy to find my brass that way.

Brass would burn holes in my carpet. Would be tough to explain that one. But, if I can get a small berm built in the right spot, .22's off the back porch will be the norm!

It seems to me that years ago (the late 60’s) I was shooting plastic wad-cutters, primer powered only, out of my 38 Special in my living room.

Set up a corrugated box with plenty of backing. Would punch nice clean holes in the paper targets.

Is there anything like that around now?

MidwayUSA has the plastic bullets. They are made by Speer and are 8.89/50, but they are reuseable. They make plastic cases also and only require a large pistol primer. Don't know if they require a reloader or not.
