Re: Big Bucks going out of business
I'm just curious about something. A guy that I work with in H'burg said that he thought they were building a new store out on the west side of town (a really big building). Anyone else know anything about that?

It's the most discreet going-out-of-business sale I've ever seen. Nothing but the nearly empty store to indicate anything is different. Found a couple of knick-knacks I might have picked up at a good price, but didn't know how much they were, and no one there was even aware of my presence much less interested in helping me. All I can figure is the traffic there is so low they're just shipping it all to Hattiesburg.
Real strange experience.
that shop has been like that everytime i've been in there. my brother and i stood at the gun counter last weekend for about 15 minutes looking at guns/ammo and the only guy working never would come up from the front of the store to help(we were the only ones in there), which they didnt have anything i was interested in anyway

My dad did the Steel Estimate for them at his work and Big Bucks never bid it out from what he was told. guess they have known for a while that they are going out of business.

one of the reasons they are going out of business, customer service sucked at both stores
the store in Hattiesburg was a joke to get waited on
glad they are gone

at least they had product on their shelves though...not like the ridgeland shop...and even if you think they're bad, they're still nothing compared to Gander Mountain....they'll practically run from you and hide in the back...and still rip you off

Guys,
Not wanting to be their advocate but they are in business to make money. They have overhead, employees, benefits and do provide a service. You are free to check out their guns, sized em up and chose whether to buy or not. The service is okay but better than no service at all. No need to infer that they want to rip you off when it's your choice to walk in or not. But I do hate to see a local store close down...

Place is so empty there's almost an echo in there. What's left is priced much lower than expected - bought all of their remaining Buckmark mag's for 50% off (I know, it's not a Ruger). There were a few assorted XD mags on the rack at 50% off and what holsters are left are half off as well. Closing the doors for good this coming Tuesday at 5:00 PM

Went to H'burg Big Bucks today. Still has stock and still open. Said they plan to remain open until end of June. No big discounts yet though, 15% off guns, 30% off ammo (what little they have left), 30% off fishing, 30% off gun accessories. No handgun ammo left.

Did not look at specific mags, but there were 30-40 still on one end cap.

Re: Big Bucks going out of business
I was at the Hattiesburg store Monday. 10% off guns, 30% off gun and shooting accessories, 40% off camo, 20% off reloading.
They still have some CCI primers, mostly large rifle, and a box of small pistol. Not many bullets, no powder left.
Other stuff they had plenty of:
Lots of Hornady dies
Camo stuff
clay pigeon throwers
bench shooting rifle rests
target stickies
fiber optic shotgun sights
bows and accessories
fishing stuff
baseball and other sports stuff
guns
mojo dove and duck decoys
All scopes are over $150 -- all the inexpensive ones are gone. All the red dots types are gone.
That's all I can remember. HTH. BTW, check your receipt and make sure you're getting the right discounts. The checkout gal was getting mixed up on the discount percentages.

Re: Big Bucks going out of business
Just left! Cleaned em out on their kimpro compact magazines at 40% off! Got the last 5...which is how many I left there when I bought one a few weeks ago. That store still has a ton of clothing and a good bit of everything else except handguns and handgun ammo. I'd guess maybe 20 handguns and about 15 of those are glocks. All shooting gear/gun accessories is now 40% off
