22-250 AR?
Are they made? I think I want an AR for my next "big" purchase and I really like the 22-250's ballistics.
I haven't ruled out the 223 because of the ammo availability/ affordability, but I think the 22-250 would be sweet.
This aint somethin I'll have the piggy bank for any time soon. Just wonderin.

Don't know about the .22-250, but Olympic Arms makes a .223 WSSM!

I did see a 243 at academy the other day too.
Is the 223 wssm a good round? Ammo readily available?

Read some were the 22.250 is too long for the the AR and case head too big for the bolt face.

But don't they make a 308? Isn't it the same thing?

The .308 is build on the AR10 platform isn't it? Isn't it bigger than the AR15?

On Predator Masters forum they said Armalite made a run of .22-250's built on the AR10 a few years ago, but not anymore. You might luck up and find a used one.

I'll probably find one that sells a week before I get the money saved up like I did with my 1911. Lol

It would have to be an AR10 platform. If you get one of those you could probably get someone to re-barrel it for you.

Re: 22-250 AR?
Getting a .22-250 built on an AR-10 type platform shouldn't be any great trouble. It's a .473 rim diameter like .308, .243, .260, 7mm-08, etc., which are all available in AR-10s
Considering that nobody makes one (as far as we've determined), this would be a good opportunity to build/have built a .22-250 with an appropriate rifling twist for the longer, heavier .224 bullets that are available these days.
I've never understood why the companies that make .22-250 rifles don't update the twist rate. .22-250 with a 77 grain bullet would be sweeeeeeet.

One thing to consider with the .22-250 is the different taper of the neck. It has been known to cause feeding problems in the AR-10. Maybe that is why they abandoned it?
It would be a sweet rifle, though.
LOL! Brutus looks just like my cousin.

The fast twist - heavier bullets routine does not work well with higher velocities. I had a friend build an M1A .22-250 with a 1 in 8 barrel and it would not shoot 80 gr bullets if the velocity was over 2800 fps. AS long as you kept the velocity down to .223 loads, it shot great.

Re: 22-250 AR?
Armalite made at least one run of .22-250 AR-10 uppers a few years back. Although it is sold, here is a link to one that was for sale:http://6mmbr.websitetoolbox.com/post?id=3140224 Note that the link says Armalite only made a handful. I have heard everywhere from 100-1000 were made, so who knows what is correct as far as that goes.
It is my understanding that the problem with the .22-250 in an AR-10 is that the taper of the cartridge causes feeding problems, especially if more than about 6 or 7 rounds are loaded in the magazine. If you are seriously interested in trying one, I would suggest giving Armalite a call and seeing if they will provide any insight or advice.
