USPSA/IPSC Class with Max Michel

Post by Will_M on Wed May 19, 2010 9:06 pm

Is anyone interested in taking a class with Max Michel this November? It will be held at Blake Miguez's range in New Iberia, LA.

The cost would be $550 per shooter. It's a two day class that'll be held over a weekend. I'm looking to gather about 7 more people.

Anyone looking to improve their game would benefit from the course. Let me know if you're interested.

We're down to 5 open slots. This is a great opportunity for anyone looking to improve their game.

400 per day, so 800 rounds total would be needed per his website.

I have heard good things about training with Max, and remember not that long ago we were discussing the $1000 price tag of a class with Max at the Sig Academy:

~800 rounds is about right. If I get enough people with deposits. Travis Tomasie will also come help teach the class.

Travis Tomasie doesn't actually reload. He can actually shoot a 32-round field course with a 20 round magazine without reloading. He just moves his hands really quick and continues shooting. And you, too, can learn to do this. But only if you sign up for the class. evil grin

I'd be very interested and November gives me enough time to save. Do I have to put any money down now? Count me in if I don't. Otherwise I'm tentative due some out of town trips in the next 2 months. Can you nail down some dates?

I have to shoot some more to develop consistant bad habits for them to troubleshoot. Right now I wouldn't shoot the same course the same way two times in a row.
Repost as it gets closer if you have a drop out and I may sign up in his place (and if you sign up and can't go, I'll give you a chance to get your deposit back if I decide to go).

I'll keep everyone updated. The date is scheduled to be November 6th and 7th. The required deposit is 50% and I'll be letting everyone know when I can start taking them.

I agree with spanky. Why would you develop bad habits first? Why not develop GOOD habits NOW? I wish I had taken a class like this before ever shooting a match.

I've taken 5 classes so far (3 handgun, 1 rifle and 1 shotgun) and always the guy with the less experience (or the one with the most open mind) gets the most out of the class.

To be fair, two of the three handgun classes were tactical/defensive oriented. Obviously some movement/accuracy went into there but most of it was stuff not applicable to this sport. Surprised

That said, back to a previous point, I don't know many people who "know" that wouldn't agree that teaching good technique is easier than fixing bad technique.

Sid, In my experience, it's easier to teach people who have no bad habits than shooters that think they know exactly how to do it and are not open to learning. Hence, it is much easier to teach a woman how to shoot than a male and there are many here that can back up the statement that have taught anybody to shoot.
This is a great opportunity that all in the sport should consider. Some guys and myself are already working on a class with Max Jr later this year local to us, but if not , I'd sign up for sure.
Anybody could learn alot from Max or Cliff for that matter as they have been doing this a long time and know the game well.
Y'all need to go if you want to learn from the best.
