Question on S&W M&P rifle?

Post by sigsmith on Fri May 21, 2010 6:44 pm

I am having problem with some mags not allowing the bolt to lock once empty. This only seems to happen on some mags. I was told to change the plates out inside the mags. I am not sure why some work and some dont. Thinking of going to Magpul mags. Any ideas?

Spring? If the springs are not strong enough in the mag. What kind of ammo?

I'm like JP, were they new mags or what? What kind of followers?
Some of these guys clean 'em up, paint 'em and sell as like new.

They are new plastic mags. Unloaded. I don't think it is a weak spring issue

If they are the Thermold mags, just trash 'em. They suck.

I love the Pmags.

New doesn't necessarily mean good. If some mags work, and others don't, then there is most likely a problem with that mag. If they were cheapies, I might put them up for the end of civilzation. You might try a new spring or one of the magpul followers. I bought a couple of the pmags from muddawg95yj on this forum. PM him for a good price if you decide to go that route.

Off topic, but I noticed you have a couple of .45's. What do you do with your brass?

I think they are cycling fine just not holding the bolt open on the last round.

Ok I got the picture, they are cheap mags. I will get some magpul mags. Thanks.

PS: As for the brass. I have not been shooting for a while but I will keep you in mind about the brass.

Never had a problem with my S&W. Have some new military issue and some used military issue. Have some bargain brand steel mags that do fine also. Never shot the plastic ones but never heard a bad word about a magpul. On different mags, I usually buy one or two to make sure they're ok. Hate to put a lot into them and them not function. Good Luck
