Hope they catch the theives -- Nothing I hate worse!!

However, this is a good lesson for all of us -- record those serial numbers -- take pictures -- record descriptions, etc .... Believe me, there are a lot of Remington 870 Express out there selling every day ... !!

That's really bad, but in Vicksburg we get crime reports of multiple gun thefts about every week.

Of late, however, the thieves seem to be focusing upon flat screen TVs.

Not sure how the thieves sell all the stuff they steal. There must be a system for selling it.

I'll be on the look out but the possibility of finding them is slim especially without those serial numbers. Captain is right. It is absolutely crucial that we keep accurate records of our firearms. Record ALL serial numbers even if you're only going to have the gun for a few days. WRITE IT DOWN.

Brother in law has a few names in his mind to be investagated. The guns was all that was taken from his home. He had a new big flat screen tv and 3 laptops in his livingroom. nothing was missing or fooled with except guns.

It sounds to me like he needs to do a little private investigating and may be some "coerced" interrogation.

I would check first with people he knows that have seen or knew that he had these....especially the ones with a shadey past. The majority of the time, it's somebody you know or someone who had done repair work in and around your home that may have caught a glimpse that sparked their interest. Also, anybody that could have been in close proximity of him when he was shooting and knew where he lived or overheard him talking about what he had.
Either way, it's an F'd up deal!
I would definately check pawn shops...especially for the bow. Hard to sell those on the "street"...
Good Luck!

In hindsight, I'll bet that $800 to $1,500 safe sure looks cheap now. I don't have a large gun collection but I do have a gun safe to prevent their loss.

A word of warning. Never post when you plan vacations, gunshows, trips to the range or anything else that might give an indication of when the house may be vacant. Good people aren't the only ones who use MS Gun Forum, Facebook or other social networks.

This is very good advice.. I see people posting on facebook all the time where and when they are going on vacations, cruises, over-nighters, ect. To me that is very foolish if you want to keep your possessions intact...

A good piece of advice is to also keep your guns in a gun safe, it is not called a gun safe for nothing. You just never know the minute someone will break into your home and steal your guns, hence why its law to have a gun safe here and a damn good law. Firearm thefts are very low.

Doesn't bother me to post when I have plans, plus the fact that I work...if they want to drive all over Kansas looking for my house they're more than welcome.
