Don't forget some kind of eye protection. Some folks use latex gloves. At the least, you shouldn't smoke, and not handle foods, either, until you finish and wash up.

I'm loading .45 and it has been hard to come by thus far. I've got some 9mm and .38 that I don't load for.

Great advice on here already as usual. My thoughts, for what they are worth:

Powder - For plinking, I would go with something on the faster end of the burn rate chart. Typically cleaner, less flash, blast, etc, and they have a nice feel. Vihta Vhouri N320 or N330 are great but expensive. Universal Clays is a good recommendation. Tite Group, Winchester Super Target, Alliant Red Dot, lots of other good choices. Look at some load data and pick one you can find locally or have access to.

Bullets - the black bullets are a good choice, and there are several manufacturers of them although the one mentioned by xd357 is cheapest at the moment. I like jacketed bullets from Precision Delta over in Ruleville, MS, too.

Primers - my experience is largerly with Federal, but also with Winchester, Wolf, and now some PMC. They have all been fine for me. Whatever you can get cheapest is probably best. It seems like I remember some people not liking CCI, but I don't remember if it was for hard cups or not feeding in the press priming system or what.

I like reloading when I am left alone so I don't get distracted. If the wifey comes in and wants to talk I stop until she is done then resume when I am alone and paying attention again.

I think most people would agree heavier bullets feel softer than lighter bullets when loaded to the same power levels with the right powders. In lighter guns, heavier are generally more popular. Some shooters prefer more "snap", especially in heavier guns and will go with 115's or 124/125's. Personal preference. 115's would be a little cheaper usually.

I wasn't aware these were for a Glock. You may want to keep an eye out for heavy leading in the barrel.

I'd say every 20 rounds check the barrel for leading. If you load light, it may not be a problem, just keep an eye out. It could cause a major pressure problem if they DO lead.

The best price I have found on cast bullets is here, really fast shipping and a great product.

yeah Will I am aware of the leading issue. I have looked into it and there are a lot of guys reporting shooting the moly coated bullets out of glocks with no leading and no problems. But I am going to keep an eye on it.
