Re: Renegade Steel Match Saturday, June 12, 2010
i used the email Mhead sent me. its the same as your post..
Something prolly just got added when it shouldnt or something, no big deal it just caught my eye
I kept lookin at my score and yours, Garrett. Tryin to figure out how you beat me by .2 seconds but i had lower scores except one
So i copied the scores into Excel and wrote some code right quick to add all the scores up for me. then double checked some with the calculator.

Re: Renegade Steel Match Saturday, June 12, 2010
I don't know what happened, I copied it from Excel and pasted it into Yahoo mail. My laptop is at the office and I left the office after posting to go conduct interviews and didn't return. I'll recheck it this morning when I get there and try to figure out what happened in the translation. I got a couple of calls and I appreciate the input and all of the help setting up and tearing down. Now you guys understand why when we explain the amount corrupt public officials and employees embezzle, they always say, "I never knew it was that much!" My Excel spreadsheet must calculate a little extra for "the G-man"! LOL!! I'll check it out. Normally that would be embarrassing, but as hot and humid as Saturday was, I'm just proud we all made it back out of the range without collapsing.

Re: Renegade Steel Match Saturday, June 12, 2010
Shooting friends,
Scott Womack and I would like to extend our thanks for the vote of confidence you all placed by choosing us as match directors for the Magnolia Rifle and Pistol Club steel program. This program belongs to all of you, not us. We should all take ownership of it by adding input, and help. If you have an idea, we’ll help you implement it. And, just because you might think you’re new, know that you are just as important as those of us who have been around a long time. We want your voices heard. New shooters are the lifeblood of our sport. Without you, it dies.
Wow, what a turnout we had in that weather! It was great to see all the ladies and the junior shooter enjoying steel. Let’s continue to promote this as a family sport, and it will only get better.
Also, since .22 Rimfire became its own match, it exploded. We had the most competitors, ever. Experienced and new shooters alike are taking those guns seriously, and that’s great.
Some of the things that we want to work on are as follows:
1. During the hot months, we should back down to 4 stages, instead of 5. Also, let’s get the shooting started by 8:30 AM. To accomplish that, we need all in-town shooters there for set-up no later than 7:30AM, preferably 7AM. We don’t want to beat anyone up over this, so please be kind to your fellow shooters. Set-up for June’s match was good, so let’s keep it going. If you can’t be there early because a special circumstance happened, and you’re a traditionally a hard worker, we’ll make considerations. Out of town shooters with long drives aren’t expected to be there early, but they will need to plan on staying for tear-down as the scores will not be posted until everything is put away. If you have a physical ailment, there are things that need doing like stage buckets and helping with sign-up. Bottom line: Everyone please do your fair share.
2. Now that our divisions mirror Thibodaux, LA, hopefully we’ll see more of them. Another thing we should look at is their local classification system. That program is wildly successful with 50 plus shooters on a routine basis. Also, how about giving placement ribbons like Amite, LA does? They’re inexpensive, and fun for the new shooters.
3. Scores will be available at the match. We’ll have them ready at the range when the match is over instead of having to wait. Also, Ken Lawrence is working on a web-site to post news, photos and scores.
Now, let’s have some fun!

I know sometimes when you copy and paste from Excel, it doesnt stop at the decimal shown. Sometimes it gives the full value. But that shouldnt throw the scores off that much.
Lemme know if you need any help, ive done some work with excel and alot of code writing..

Great post Cliff! I agree about making it a family sport. My wife and daughter were planning on making this one b/c I was working Friday and didn't know if I would show, they made other plans. Maybe next month they will make it.

Great match Saturday, even if hot. Wish we could've stayed for the finish.
A steel match is the most fun you'll ever have with a $5 entry fee.
Cliff's "suggestion no. 1" sounds like a good one to me!

Thanks for checking the scores and letting me know something was out of sorts. I rechecked the formula and determined I had added Stage 1 twice and did not add Stage 2 so the results did change for the shooters placement in a few instances. I apologize profusely and will take my beating accordingly. Thanks again for of your help Saturday it was a challenging day for all of us.
