Night Match in Poplarville set for June 26
I am going to try and get some more information on this, but the following was posted on a sister forum and I thought I would pass it on since there was some discussion on here about night matches previously:
I am not sure if the scoring will be USPSA, hitfactor only, time plus, or something else. I also need a definition of what is considered a "race gun" Comps and dots are easily defined of course. Handgun mounted lights weren't allowed previously, and with body mounted lights being banned, I would be surprised if they are now. If anyone has any specific questions they want asked, let me know or email the folks at SMSPSA.
I have shot some night matches down there before and they have always been fun and a lot can be learned from them. It has been a while since one has been held though. I imagine good turnout will lead to more in the near future.
Night match is set for June 26 at 0:dark30. Plan to be there at least an hour before dark. I'll post some guide lines soon, but figure that some stages will have ambient light only, some will have lighting, some targets will be lit, some with only flashing red lights on the right shoulder (muzzle flash). Lights are allowed on some stages, but can only be turned on AFTER the buzzer, and there are NO body mounted lights allowed such as head lights. NO race guns, no handguns with comps, dots etc.
ETA: Night match is rifle and handgun.

Well, www.bayoushooter.com claims to be "Louisiana's Premier Shooting Community", and of course this site is "a forum dedicated to the Gun Owners of Mississippi", so clearly the sites are from neighboring States and have similar purposes. I would say they are even "similar" sites based in and providing information for the shooters in their respective states.
According to Merriam Webster's definition of "sister", the word can mean "one that is closely similar to or associated with another." See http://www.merriam-webster.com/netdict/sister, def. 4.
Further, in politics, the term "sister state" is often used to describe states that have either formal or informal relationships to exchange knowledge, encourage international cooperation, and develop goodwill. I think shooters (and members of the two forums) in Mississippi and Louisiana have such informal relationship, if the sites themselves do not.
To me, the term fit at the time I typed it. Maybe I should have thought a little and come up with something better (or worse)? Hmm, red-headed step child. No, that doesn't work... LOL.

I take offense to that. You'll be getting a call from Conan O'Brian soon. (He's our Al Sharpton)

A few more details from Wayne about the night match:
Weapon mounted lights are allowed, but must be turned on after the buzzer. Flash lights are allowed, but there will be limits on "huge spotlights that light up the gravel pit." His goal is to keep it close to what they have done in the past, i.e. a "match based on low light/no light self defense stages, with fun mixed in of course."
Scoring will be a variation of IDPA type time plus (target neutralization). There will be at least 4 stages, maybe 5. Some will be mixed utilizing both guns, some just one gun. There should be at least one rifle only stage with some dark targets at 80 or so yards. One stage will be ambient light only, no artificial. It is supposed to be a full moon that night, so it should work well. He says some guys plan to use night vision, but remember that like most other matches, there will be no changing equipment from stage to stage. There may even be a pick up gun or two.
If you plan on going, be prepared to be out late, as rifle scoring in the dark can be slow. Scores will be anounced after all the props are picked up.
I'll post more details as I get them.
