6/12/10 Vintage Bolt-Action HP Match Results (at Magnolia)
BOY..... it was HOT today. And we shot early in the morning. I was sweating like a pig helping setup targets at 7:30 AM........
Good thing the firing line was in the shade. Being in the sun would have been BRUTAL..... There was NO breeze today, just HOT & DRY.... Magnolia could use a little more rain to help grass grow on the improved areas.
OK, enough B*TCHING about the HOT weather. You guys want to see the match results...........

Just 5 brave souls (or maybe we are crazy) showed up to shoot the Vintage Bolt-Action HP match. It has been so long since I shot my Yugo Mauser that I forgot where to hold on the target. 3 of my first 5 spotter rounds went over the target. I have to hold a bottom of the paper. I was also shooting "full 8mm ball" ammo today with the 198gr bullets. Not the "light 8mm ball" as in the past with 150gr bullets. That ammo was stomping my ass in the prone position...... After 15rds in Slow-Fire Prone, I was dreading the last 5rds......
The quick 10rds in Rapid-Fire Prone didn't help my shoulder any.....
The sitting and standing stages allowed some relief, but I was pulling my shots right on those stages.
We finished around 10:30 AM and cleaned the range. Then we moved to the building and turned on ALL 3 BIG fans to cool down to score the targets. After that I cranked up Magnolia's ATV and went tooling around the range looking for brass. Yes, I am a Brass Whore....
Didn't find much until I hit the East-50 range. SCORE.... Somebody left a sh*t-load of R-P and Fed. 45acp brass there. Both brass and nickel. The pieces that were out in the sun were almost too hot to hold, but I got them.....
I haven't sorted and counted my "bounty" yet, but I estimate 200+ pieces.
You guys that missed the Vintage Bolt-Action HP match today missed a FUN match. However, if you were in the AC, your were better off than us "crazy people"...............
EDITED to add.... Match scores subject to M1GarandFan's verification.

Scores are correct. Unfortunately mine is correct. Gotta work on getting my bolt rifles sighted in better.

Yes Mike, welcome to MSGO. Please go the New Member Welcome Center and introduce yourself (in detail).
You shot your '03 very well. I think we both ended the shoot with sore shoulders......
Hey Captain........ the smell of fired 30-06 ammo in the morning is CALLING YOU. You REALLY need to drag your ass, one of MANY of your NICE Garands, and some "stashed" ammo to some of the HP matches.

Had I known about it there would have been six there. I'll see you in August and September with my 1903 Mark I.
