keltec pf9

what is your take on this weapon?
what experience you have with it?
what do i need to know about it?
any tips for accuracy improvement?
basically, tell me everything you know about it.

I've got one. I love it as a carry gun, it is very light and slim. As far as accuracy, I haven't shot a whole lot but have shot enough to know I can hit my steel plates at 15-20 yards consistantly. Not great for ladies or the weak at heart. It has a very strong recoil spring that my wife has a lot of trouble racking the slide, but it will shoot and feed anything you throw at it. I'm a fan! It does have a little punch for a 9 b/c of the high centerline and the lightness of the pistol, but it is not a target gun so who cares. If your using it, you won't be worried about recoil.

Great gun, but stay away from the early ones. (as with anything)

I got jbpmidas's old Kel Tec . I carry it evey day with the clip attachment , for me it's the perfect carry gun . It is the thinnest 9 mm ever made and it goes bang every time . It's not real fun to shoot kinda snappy .

I had one for a few months and thought it was a great little carry gun. It was a little too big for me to pocket carry, but small and light enough to be comfortable all day long in the various IWB holsters. I wish I had it back, because it never jammed and would shoot anything. Fairly accurate for such a short barrel, as well. Not really a fun range gun, but great for it's intended purpose. One thing you need to address as soon as you get it though is to use a little blue locktite on the extractor spring screw. My would start backing out after 40 or 50 rounds and if you don't address it with locktite or regular tightening, it will shoot the firing pin out the back of the gun, since that screw also secures the FP. Not a big deal if addressed, but necessary. Also, never dry fire the pistol without snap caps or you'll break the firing pin on that same screw. Overall, a competent little CCW gun that actually gave you respectable firepower. Much more potent than the .380s. A handall jr is a nice enhancement, if you plan on shooting it much. Keltek has great customer service, as well. I needed the revised mag carrier for mine, so I called and asked for one. Also, asked for another firing pin, FP spring, and frankenbolt while I was at it. All the parts arrived free of charge 3 days later.

I thought about buying the pf9, but i like the p-11 too, SUggestions?

Working on my second pf9 now; got rid of the first one too soon I think. Never gave either it or myself a fair chance. That said, this pf9 has been absolutely flawless. Very accurate at the distances for which it is intended although not exactly what I'd call "pleasant" to shoot at the range. I have put 500 rounds though it at one session and it worked perfectly. Total round count now is around 1000 and it has worked great. It is usually what I throw in my pocket on the way out the door.

I just ended up with one today. Feels good. I haven't shot it yet, but I plan on doing so very soon! It's really light. The guy said he was shooting 147 grain in it and it would make one heck of a jump and a fireball. I handled it a couple of times and figured it would make a pretty good CC weapon. I heard the first run of these had problems, that true? I noticed the guy pushed the sights all the way to the left hand side, also. Hahah, just saw that while typing this up and looking at the gun. He said he only shot a couple of mags through it. I got an extra mag from him, to boot! Seems the finish is coming off of it a little bit, I'd say holster wear, but overall it's in great shape.

I got one...Its a nice moderately priced 9mm that seems to be pretty reliable...I've never had a single issue with mine....

Good "beater" 9mm to keep in the car...

Mags are a little hard to find locally but you can order em from Midway and such

I had one and thought it was pretty good. I did do the "fluff and buff" on the ramp and slide (as described on KTOG) site and never had a misfire/stove pipe/etc. If you are looking for concealment, I would suggest the PF9 over PF11, not that there is a huge difference in size - but there is some obviously. I got rid of it because it was just a little to big for me for pocket carry versus my KelTec P3AT/Ruger LCP.

What are these guns selling for?

I've seen'em anywhere from $229 to over $300. Depends on what finish you want.

3SPOP, I saw the hard chrome pf9 at gold-n-guns in Grenada,MS on Saturday for $349.95. Blued slide were alittle cheaper. They had 4 or 5 with various color grips,blue grips and black grips I think. Hope this helps.

CDNN had some cheap here recently...I had one but went back to revolver for truck gun....REally liked the weapon but got tired a having to remember to rotate mags ever so often

The blue slide and parkerized ones can be had for $250 to $275 new at gunshows, you do have to shop around though... some dealers are nuts when it comes to pricing these.Ive never seen one of the hard chrome ones, so no idea on pricing of them. They are good guns, but no way would i pay more than that for one. Mine was rough inside when i got it, i did the usual keltec fluff and buff youll read about online and it greatly improved the guns feel.
