I mailed CMP an order yesterday for an Underwood Mi Carbine. I decided to go this route after some reading on the CMP forum. Seems that they're scraping the bottom of the crate on Carbines. Selection & quality at the stores not so good. Supposedly nicer guns being shipped. Hope to snag a NPM in a couple of weeks before they are gone too.

If you've been putting off ordering one now is the time to DO IT!
Save yourself some money, once these hit the street they seem to go up about $200.

Still want a trip though, maybe Sept/Oct. Don't have a Garand Razz And you know you ain't a real American gun owner if you ain't got a Garand (or two, or three).

I suggest you time your trip to Annistion with Alabama gun collector's association show in Birmingham! It's 4x the size of the trade mart and all collector guns, no new firearms, and very few b.s. tables. I saw Ernie Pyle's carbine displayed with a presentation carbine with a 24" barrel the last time I went. You may not even make it to Anniston!
