Check ou this link -- there is another link on this site with an application ...

http://apps.carryconcealed.net/legal/florida-ccw-state-laws.php

Just interested - why the desire for a FL permit? Your MS card would be valid there ...

It used to be that Mississippi's permit wasn't accepted some places and a Florida non-resident permit was a benefit. Several years ago that changed, however, and Mississippi picked up several more states (including Florida and Louisiana of note). A list of states that currently have reciprocity with Florida can be found here: http://licgweb.doacs.state.fl.us/news/concealed_carry.html

From the Mississippi Department of Public Safety's website, Mississippi now has reciprocal agreements with Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan,Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Washington, West Virginia, & Wyoming. Taken from here:http://www.dps.state.ms.us/dps/dps.nsf/webpages/firearms_firearmspermitfaqs?OpenDocument

There are other states that would also recognize a Mississippi permit that don't have specific agreements and are therefore not listed. It would be best to check the other states' laws individually to be sure.

A Florida non-resident CCW is recognized in some states that do not recognize a Mississippi permit.

True. From the links I posted above, it appears that a Florida non-resident gets you Delaware, Idaho, Kansas, Nebraska, New Mexico, North Dakota, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Vermont and Virginia over and above those offered by a Mississippi permit.

Meanwhile, from the same links, a Mississippi permit gets you Minnesota, while a Florida does not.

Notably, however, several seemingly reliable sources say that a Mississippi permit gets you Virginia also. See:
http://www.nraila.org/recmap/usrecmap.aspx
http://www.handgunlaw.us/states/mississippi.pdf
http://www.usacarry.com/concealed_carry_permit_reciprocity_maps.html

Since Virginia's State Police website appears to agree, I believe this is just a mistake on the MSDPS website. See:
http://www.vsp.state.va.us/Firearms_Reciprocity.shtm

Florida CCW

Post by racine on Tue Jul 13, 2010 9:45 pm

I got a FL CCW when I first moved here because of the MS extended waiting period. Not to mention that reciprocity was very encompassing with the FL vs the plain jane MS. I did not however renew the FL last year because some states stopped recognizing FL and required your home state CCW to carry-Colorado, Wyoming and Montana being a perfect examples. I believe that revenue might have been an issue. I have been too lazy to renew my FL license since MS shares reciprocity now even with LA.

Looks like we honor Minnesota, but they don't honor us.
Won't matter to most of you, but I deer hunt up there.
Also, looks like Iowa is going to honor all states permits on 1 Jan.
