any advice on a belt?

So while I impatiently wait the remainder of the 45 day period(down to 31 days left i believe!!!!)I need to go ahead and get a good belt. At least thats what everyone on the errornet says, and I can see their point after toting my cdp around the house a bit here lately to get used to the feeling. my current belt(fossil brand), definitely sags a good bit.

SO to the point, I'm planning on buying a couple supertucks for a govt model 1911, and my xdm, and I wonder how Crossbreed's belts are? Does anyone have one? I know everyone swears by their holsters, so I can definitely see trusting their belts. So I thought, while i'm already making an order, why not just add to it?

I'm not closed to other brands. I just want a good quality belt at a fair price, not cheap, just fair. I can't see spending over $100, especially since i'm just wanting a very simple, basic belt, w/o all the frills. The crossbreed is priced right at $60.

any and all advice would definitely be appreciated!

I got one from the beltman. Nothing fancy, just the quick ship black bull hide. It holds my OWB bianchi holster very well. It was about $80

Ha good thing no one here is biased huh? Since I have heard a lot more people praise the beltman belts I'll probably wind up going with that. The quick ship option fits my needs exactly.

+1 on simply rugged belt. I had mine 10 days after i placed my order. Very well made and sturdy works great and priced right. i purchased mine based on MSredneck's recomendation and am very pleased. I have my supertuck w/ ltw commander on right now with the simply rugged belt and it is so comfortable you almost forget you are wearing it.

5.11 Tactical make a good belt. It's thick cotton canvas and is very rigid. It's designed to carry the weight of a gun plus anything else you want to hang on it. Midsouth Uniform has the ones with steel buckles for $35 dollars. There great for guns.

It's been the most belt for the money that I've ever had.

Rafter S and Tucker Gunleather both make nice gunbelts and beautiful holsters.


Has anyone tried the Blackhawk! CQC belts? Are they any good?

Was thinking more leather, because I'll probably be wearing it even when I'm not carrying, cuz my fossil belt has about had it too and I need a good black leather belt to replace it, so just wanna kill 2 birds with one stone here.

If you want leather I would recommend checking out some local western clothing stores. The Justin boot store in south Jackson would be a good place to start. I got one their belts for about $30. Some of their belts would suite your needs. They are not labeled as "gun belts" but some of them are nice and sturdy.

A gun belt need to be 2 ply leather.

When I first started carrying a detective noticed I was carrying. He asked to see my belt and almost died laughing. He gave me the number of a shoe repair shop in Bay St. Louis. When I called the guy told me to come over and bring my favorite belt. The one I wore the most and fit the best. When I gave it to him he laid it out on pad and drew an outline. Until then I had never paid much attention to the fact that my belt had developed a curve. The belt he made was curved also. I promise that belt fit just like it was made for me, and it was so well made my pants didn't droop on my strong side.

Find a shoemaker, cobbler or just somebody who is good with leather and get one made that fits you.

I've heard you tell that story before. Do you remember the name of the shoe shop in BSL?
