8mm Ammo

Post by BeauBeaux on Wed Jul 21, 2010 6:45 pm

One of the VZ24's turned out to have a really nice matching number barrel, headspaced really good [closing on the GO] [not closing on the NO GO]. Bolt does not match, but alot of bluing left on all metal after cleaning it up. Probably will do a new stock set and keep it 8mm.

Sporterizing the other. None matching bad barrel, very little finish on the metal, bolt numbers ground off [really ugly].

Who has 8mm that's clean and reloadable? Reasonable in price would be really nice..lol

I bought a bunch of the clean Yugo stuff made in the 70's from Ammo man, believe they still have some.

Most 8x57mm ammo is corrosive Berdan primed. Clean the bore with a solution of 1/4 cup of Murphy's Oil Soap mixed in 1 gallon of water. Swab the bore and let the Murphy;s sit in the bore then dry out the bore and use Hoppe's #9 the normal way. Do not let the Sun set on the rifle before cleaning the bore.
