I read where the approval rating for congress is a wooping 11 percent. i just hope the people remember in november and vote the bums out. might not do any good, but it will feel good!

There's something about getting elected that makes a well intentioned candidate quickly join the crooks.

Lust for power, I suppose.

TERM LIMITS!! desperately needed. i got off the phone with my state representative once and my wife told me i was rude, i told her she didnt hear what he said, all i said, rather bluntly, was he was elected ro represent the people of his district and not his own self interests.
i don ttrust any of them anymore.

What is happening is what some of the founding fathers of the constitution feared would happen.
Franklin's address to the Constitutional Convention in 1787 said this:
Sir, There are two passions which have a powerful influence in the affairs of men. These are ambition and avarice; the love of power and the love of money. Separately, each of these has great force in prompting men to action; but when united in view of the same object, they have in many minds the most violent effects. Place before the eyes of such men a post of honor, that shall at the same time be a place of profit, and they will move heaven and earth to obtain it. The vast numbers of such places it is that renders the British government so tempestuous. The struggles for them are the true source of all those fractions which are perpetually dividing the nation, distracting its councils, hurrying it sometimes into fruitless and mischievous wars, and often compelling a submission to dishonorable terms of peace.
