Ruger Mark II M77 bolt action rifle trigger job

How much should I pay to have the trigger on my Ruger M77 reworked? I heard Lee Thomas was good. Anyone have his number? or does he have a shop that is open now? The factory trigger has been a problem since I got it years ago but I plan on using it alot this year and need to remedy the problem. Any idea what that would run?

Did the trigger job on the M77 fix the issue? I just dont want to spend &60 and still have an average trigger system.

I had a Timney trigger installed on my Ruger Mk II M-77 .30-06 at Surplus City a couple years ago, it cost about $70 plus labor, which I think was about $25....made a big improvement, much better than the factory trigger.

I got my Timney from Natchez shooters supply replaced it myself, older Ruger with Tang safety, fiberglass stock bedded, Kahles 30 mm 3X12X56, caliber 7 X 57, I did the bedding myself with a Brownells kit.. I did this 20 years ago still my favorite rifle, the trigger replacement was the best decision I ever made... I rey I reload usually IMR powders and Barnes bullets... 2 deer fell last year with one shot, accident of course.. I will never accept a crap trigger again

I've got a drop in timney in my old 77 and it's almost too light, I love it.

The factory trigger used to make me stop and check to make sure the safety wasn't on!

On a Mark II M77 you could take it to Billy Tierce in Utica at Bill's Gun
Shop, he did several of mine on factory triggers that are so good
they have to be experienced to believe. I'm guessing on his current
prices to be in the range of $50 or so though its been a while since
he did any for me and they were $35 then but inflation...........

guess im lucky. i like the factory trigger on my 77...

but that may change if i put a "good" trigger on it...

My understanding is the MIIs have a much better factory trigger.

I would have sold my M77 in .300winmag but it was a hand me down from my Dad. So, I added a trigger, muzzle brake, recoil pad and had it glass bedded. Now it's about as good as the 700 I really wanted but still not as pretty.

I prefer the looks of the 77 over the 700. The action just looks neat to me. Smile

I had a .280 M77 which had a very long pull trigger on it. I had it replaced with a Timney which was so much better. Cost be about $75.00 if I remember correctly.
