Resturan Carry Legal or not??

Post by a10acfan1 on Mon Aug 02, 2010 9:11 pm

I know TN just recently passed a new law stating that it's legal to carry in resturants. What is the law in MS ? If I read the laws correctly its illegal to carry in a bar. But what about, say Chili's?

Legal in the restaurant part of Chilis, illegal in the bar area. Basically the law is that if you are in a portion of the establishment dedicated primarily to food service, you're good. If in an area dedicated primarily to alcohol service, you shouldn't be carrying. TN is different b/c you can carry in a sho-nuff bar. So long as you don't drink. AT ALL.

U can carry...unless they specifically have a sign up that says you can't...Then I would not eat there anyway...find another dinning establishment

I never sweat the restaurant with bar issue because I never sit in the bar area....otherwise

I never go to bars so its never an issue

Keep your gun on you, concealed....no problems

This is how I understand it to be ...

Hmm?
Say your at a table and order drinks with your meal?
Is it illegal to consume alcohol while carrying?
Or just illegal to be over the limit while carrying?

No, I don't believe it is illegal to order a drink while carrying in Miss. I haven't found that expressly prohibited like it is in TN. However, I will go on record and say it is incredibly stupid. If you want to carry and have an alcoholic drink then you are just asking for trouble. This is one area I think think zero tolerance is an appropriate standard. I'm no advocate of zero tolerance laws in other contexts, but firearms and alcohol don't mix.

For myself, "zero tolerance" is my view as well. It's something that should be self-regulated if its legal to drink and carry. Stay safe my friends.
