The straight story on parks/trace carry
This past weekend my wife and I took our boys up to the science museum at LaFleur's bluff state park in jackson. Of course, I had my gun with me. I know that effective July 1 park carry is legal in MS. However, at the entrance the park "no weapons" was clearly posted. Is this just a case of them not taking the sign down, or does the signage fall under section 45-9-101 where it states ... the carrying of a concealed pistol or revolver may be disallowed in anyplace in the discretion of the person or entity exercising control over the physical location of such place..." Which takes precedence, the state law or the physical sign? Since this is a state park, does it fall under the control of the state law, nullifying the sign?
The bill that permits park carry doesn't specifically state whether or not carrying inside buildings is permitted. Does that mean it is?
I'm also unclear, and can't seem to get a straight answer out of anybody regarding carrying on the Trace. It would seem that since concealed carry is legal in national parks that it would also be legal on the Trace? Can anybody give me a link or point me in the direction where I can find this out?

Re: The straight story on parks/trace carry
The head man, Chief, captain, what ever he is of the Trace police was on the J.T. and Dave show a few weeks ago. J.T. asked him specifically about firearms on the Trace. He said they are allowed per the new laws. They may archive them shows at Supertalk, and if so, you may be able to listen to it, or they may be able to tell you how you can.

From the above web site for the Trace:
Firearms Policy
As of February 22, 2010, a new federal law allows people who can legally possess firearms under applicable federal, state, and local laws, to legally possess firearms in this park. It is the responsibility of visitors to understand and comply with all applicable state, local, and federal firearms laws before entering this park.
In addition, Federal law prohibits firearms in certain facilities in this park. Those facilities are posted at public entrances to identify them and notify the public that firearms are not allowed in those areas.
As a starting point, please visit the federal Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms website and select the state that you are interested in from the list on the right side of the page.

Does concealed carry in parks include all buildings?
