Appleseed Project... anyone from here instructing or going?

Post by BearsBoy on 8/18/2010, 2:44 pm

First, for those that may not know what I'm talking about here are a couple of links...
Appleseed Project Website
Link to the Sept 4-6, 2010 Special Labor Day 3 day event

It sounds like a good thing and I'm always up to learn something if I don't have to work Labor Day. (Yeah, there are very few holidays that I don't work.)
I was wondering if anyone from here is involved with it? If the planets align just right I would like to attend and bring my wife. I really need to get her to something like this with other people instructing her and not me. Smile

By all means, bring your wife, and children if you like... Most of you know Raven227, he will be there, and our Shoot Boss will be out of LA. This is the best 3 days you can spend to get someone grounded on basic rifle marksmanship.. AND women, children, and Military shoot free. A semi auto 22,aprox. 500 rds ammo, eye, ear protection a shooting mat, and elbow pads, will get you going.. we do teach the use of the military web sling..those will be available there. BTW, women usually make the best students..

Will a 513 Remington work? It's bolt action 5rd clip and wears a target stock with sling swivels the same size and spacing as an M1.

You could use the 513, you will be slower on your rapid fire stages because of the bolt, and you will have a bunch of clip reloads... We can put a detachable set of 1.25 sling swivels, and a G-I sling on it for you. We will probabley have some loaner rifles available also.. just let me know your needs.. D-451

Usually there is a short history lesson during lunch. The times I have been most people have brought lunch. A couple of times someone ran into town for burgers but I won't bet on that.

The best thing is to bring lunch because you will enjoy the time to sit down and rest.

Reason I asked is cause my uncle manages Tommys trading post just down the rd and I had thought about running down there to grab some lunch. They have awesome burgers and food but we probably will just bring our lunch.

We would like to see you bring your lunch, so you can listen to our history presentation during the lunch break.. We tell peple all of the events that happened the first day of the Revolution...It is an eye-opening experience...Did Paul Revere ride thru hollering "The British are Coming?". I am glad you are going to be there...Please make me look good on my statement that "Womern are the best Students".. I would love to see you get that Rifleman's patch.. P.S. Tell the guys it is not easy to get... only about 10% of the shooters can qualify as Rifleman.. You have to shoot 210 out of 250 at 25 meters..Sounds easy doesn't it... Bring the guys also..D-451

I bet you can......Take a 1 inch black square and put it 25 M (82) ft. away, and strat trying to get 5 out of 5 of your shots in it.. Don't worry if you don't, we wil teach you how to do it.. Just bring the will to learn.. The instructors do the rest... It takes most people 2 to 3 shoots to earn the patch... But we will teach you how to properly train on your own...I am hoping to get a group started at most of the gun clubs..they learn, a few sign up to be instructors, and teach others in the Club, ect. This training carries over to any type of rifle marksmanship skill you want to learn. You will be surprised to see your improvement. Also wear comfortable, loose fitting clothes, and bring plenty of liquids..Any questions, just ask.. D-451

The shoot should start promptly by 8:30. If you could get there by 8:00, and get registered...that would be great.

Do you know what all to bring? Any questions, just ask. D-451
