High Point Firearms and Service.

High Point firearms get a lot of bad reviews. Much of it justified. I have read some good. I own two, both CF .380's. I bought one 12 years ago and one recently. The one I bought 12 years ago I shot for about a year and the little plastic piece on the slide latch/safety came off. I put it in its case and it has been sitting in a closet ever since, until last week. I took it out and shot it. Put 100 rounds thru it, no jams, no misfires, no FTE, nothing. At 7 yards I was able to get pretty decent groups. That's with the latch still broken. They arent very nice looking guns and they are heavy but from my experience they run just fine. So anyway I was looking at their lifetime warranty and decided to call. I called them today and asked how much the part would be to ship to me. Cost: $0. The guy at Beemiller who handles their parts and service told me that any part that malfunctions on the gun is shipped free to the owner, no matter how old it is. And if you have to ship it to them, if its too old they will replace the gun and even if its only a repair they will ship back with a brand new magazine. That's pretty darn good service for a low end gun manufacturer if you ask me. I don't think I would stake my life on a High Point Firearm but for just shooting at targets and having something to shoot they aren't a bad deal (IMHO). Although a lot of people pointed out on another forum that is thats all you can afford then at least you have something to defend yourself with.

I have a friend with a 9mm carbine. It broke or something and they shipped him a new one. Seems like they have a goal to exceed customers' expectations and are meeting that goal.

I almost bought a .40 carbine, but went with the keltec sub2000. Keltec seems to have better build quality, plus its so compact when folded and very accurate.

I got a 9mm compact through a trade and thought it would probably be a good fishing weight but after I took it home and shot a 100 rounds through found out it shot alot better than I imagined. I was shooting cheap ammo and didnt have a single hang up and the groups were way tighter than I ever imagined.

I own a 40 and a 45 Hi-point, several thousand rounds and still going strong, i'd buy another in a heart beat, and mine have adj. sights and are very acurate.

Ive got a Hi Point 9mm 40 and 380 COMP

Ive had to call HP twice.. Once to get info on a feed problem with my 9mm (solved) and once to get every damn part I could possably replace. Nice folks there and eager to help.

Ive spoken to Shirley Deeb on several occasions and she is as nice as they come.

I havent had the first jam in the 40 or 380 Comp and none with the 9mm since the issue has been taken care of.

I would trust a HP with my life the same as I would my GLOCK.

And I wouldt hesetate to buy another.

I've had a .45 for about 2 years and it does something that the last 2 1911s I owned wouldn't... It chambers and fires anything ,ball,reloads, jhps. Not too shabby when you get change back out of $200.

These guns are such a baragin that several of the shops I have gone to refuse to carry them or even order one for me (dads) and a couple of the pawn shops I have gone to have asked for 220+ for VERY used weapons.

I have heard of a few problems with high points but only a couple that by the end the person was not satisfied.

Many of the pictures you see of high points with "exploded slides" have actually been cut.

+1 on sub2000.

As far as pistol, eh ... I think ill spend another $100+ and pick up a used Glock 1st or 2nd gen. Just as ugly, but I would trust my life with the Glock (have for 4 years). Not something I can say about the HPs ive owned (9mm and .380 acp).

Hmm, the c9 has an MSRP of $160. Where can you buy a used glock for 260?

TBH dealers should sell hi points at the same amount below MSRP as they do other guns, but i think they are so cheap already they refuse to drop that extra 20-30 bucks

Not sure about MSRP is, but in the actual market I've seen USED HPs for sale for $200+ ... I bought 2 1st gen glock 17s and 22s for $100 more than that. Yeah they were rough, one mag, no paperwork/case but they're there.

As a matter of fact, I JUST sold a nice glock 22 gen2 for $320, and police trade in g22s can be had for around the same price.

Figure you normally pay about 20% less then MSRP when you buy another gun, so you SHOULD be able to buy one for about $130. The reason the price on these get jacked up is because there is nothing else in that price range. The next closest 9mm would easily cost twice as much, so stores try and sell them for huge price increases because they are still the cheapest thing in the store.

If you walk in and say "look I know the MSRP on this gun is 160, so you don't pay more then 100 bucks for this gun, why don't you sell it to me for 150 OTD" you will prolly get it.

*shrugs* You ask 100 different people, you'll prob get 100 different answers. I wouldn't trust my life to a $160 msrp. It's great they'll replace it, or fix it forever etc...

I've said I have no problems with HPs, infact I had a carbine in 9mm and LOVED it, though I suppose a HP is better than no gun at all.
