Powder scale/dispenser

What do y'all think about this combo?

All I have ever heard about PACT was it was pretty good stuff .. I have NO experience with these modern tools!! Just do not load enough rifle to justify such an expenditure. If I want dead-on powder weights for a rifle, I just measure each one ...

I might just do that capt. It's the best price that ive found for this type of combo. Rcbs wants almost double the money for theirs.

As long as the scale will hold ZERO..... Go for it. I have heard some electronic scales loss ZERO and have to be recalibrated often.

SGF from what I've read it does it all on it's own when it turned on.

Yes, when turned ON the scale should ZERO. But what I am saying is during use the scale might lose ZERO, and have to be turned OFF and back ON. To me that would be a hassle..............

I have used one for the last 3 years, works fine just keep it out of the breeze of a fan and sturdy bench away from vibration ( of course you have to do this to all of them) and its very accurate.
Only complaint is to throw away the plastic pan, builds to much static, I use the brass pan off my beam scale.

Oh, so that is why my OLD RCBS balance beam scale came with a brass pan. Never had a static problem.......

Who sells brass weights to verify scales. Do the digital scales come with some sort of adjustment screw to go through the weights and get them right? Just learning this reloading but do know that keeping your equipment adjusted correctly may save a firearm or hand.

The Pact comes with 2 weights that you use when you go through the calibration program that is in the scale it tells you when to put the weights on the scale and it adjust itself. I have gone back and checked the weights after calibration and they have always been on the mark.

Any truth to the rumor that you cannot use electronic dispenser/scales under fluorescent lights?

I don't know sj but it's a good question.

My reloading room has 4 Florescent lights in it and 2 under the cabinets to light up the bench nice and bright..

I've decided not to buy the pact. To many subpar reviews at midwayusa.

Florescent lights will cause drift in electronic scales but usually if the lights are more than 4 to 5 feet away from the scales, there will be minimum to no drift caused from the lights. The biggest thing with automatic powder dispensers is the minimum charge that the machine will throw. If you are a reloader of pistol ammo throwing charges in the 2 to 5 grain weights, the dispenser may not be able to throw that light of weight consistently, if at all. My RCBS combo cannot throw a charge lighter than 6 grains.

The rcbs chargemaster combo(what I'm leaning to) throws down to a 2 grain charge.

I have a RCBS combo and it will not throw a 2 grain charge. It won't throw a 3, 4, 5, maybe a 6 grain charge. Maybe RCBS has modified their newer machines to throw down to a 2 grain charge. I purchased my last year thinking I could use it for pistol loads as well as .223 loads. The manual that came with mine plainly states that the combo throws charges from 6 grains up to its maximum capacity (1,500 grains I believe).
