Ruger Single Six Project

Post by msredneck on Thu Aug 19, 2010 8:15 pm

Had this Simmons handgun scope laying around for some reason....

Thinking about putting it on the ole Ruger Single Six 22 Mag/22 LR

Its obviously gotta have different rings and bases

Nice problem to have. Nice gun, never owned one but they look like they'd be a blast on a slow afternoon.

I love mine. I'd like to find a good deal on a stainless one also.

Don't u dare put that on one of the best six guns made. They made to be shot open sighted. You ever try "can rolling" with a scope? C'mon Man don't do it. Throw that scope on a Mag of some sort where you need it for long range (50yds+).

Used to have my FFL and when I decided to close up shop I bought a few guns that were on my must have list. The Single Six was one of the ones I have kept. Mine was bought in 1992 and I'll bet it hasn't had a box shot thru it. It looks just like yours. Seeing yours makes me want to shoot mine a little more. Nice gun.

Joe, I did say the DW was a fine pistol and mentioned in a post earlier that my brother's had the finest finish I'd ever seen on a pistol. Not feeling a little pen...er pistol envy are we there Joe?

Here's mine. (Right click the photo and choose "view photo" and you can see the whole image.)

I've gone back to the iron sights just because the scope on a Single Six looks weird.

But the factory sights were hard for me to see.

So I painted the brass dot on the front sight with red fingernail polish. Now I can at least see the front sight.

Mine is the New Model and I hated the fact that the cylinder would only turn in one direction. I installed a free spin pawl and made it better. I also dropped one leg of the trigger spring and made the trigger a little better.

That looks to have been a much larger scope than my 2x20...

I'm gonna get Dixie Precison Rifles to redo the rings and bases on mine...

I think we can make it work...

if not Joe S. may yet get a scope....If he'll get off his wallet......

The rings on my scope now fit a Pic rail

All I really wanna do is use the pistol squirrel hunting a bit....Its just my old fishing tackle box gun...Guess I gotta get a Bigger tackle box now...

What?...Ya'll aint got a gun just for your tackle box? laughatyou

Yeah, it's a Weaver 2 X pistol scope (long eye relief).

LINK

I also bought some Williams Fire Sights for Ruger Single Six, but the front sight does not fit the Hunter New Model Ruger Single Six.
