A couple of my toys

Post by Myers on Tue Aug 24, 2010 11:05 am

Sig 226 Navy model, Surefire X300, Warren tactical rear, trijicon front sight, Raven concealment Phantom Holster and double mag carrier. Lower pistol is a taurus 709 slim stainless, still waiting on holster for it. It's a relatively new purchase. Still getting used to the very stout single action trigger, but I really like it.

Very nice but what makes the Sig a "Navy Model". Have heard of things like the MP5 Navy model but don't know what makes it "Navy."

It's called P226 Navy because it is the same version of the P226 the Seals use.

because it has a cute little anchor on the side of the slide lol. In all seriousness, supposedly it has the same salt water coating on it that the pistol they issue the seals does. *shrugs* for all I know it's the same coating they put on every sig. I just wanted a 226R and that's what it was available, i figured the "Navy" model was just a marketing gimmick, but then i ran across this picture, and noticed the same anchor marking.

nice guns, my dad is interested in the taurus slim. Let us know how she does at the range. Also what brand jacket is that?

The jacket is a TAD gear Robin Hoodie. Thus far range report on the taurus has been good. The trigger definitely requires some getting used to, at least it does for me. Others didn't seem to have a problem with it.

I was a bit perturbed by the wait time ( i ordered mine at the beginning of may and got it in august), but the build quality is great, and it is a truly custom holster. Almost every aspect of the holster can be tailored to your liking if you just talk to Jay at Raven. I got mine with the short body shield as i don't intend to CC that pistol/light combo. I have yet to get it on the range yet though because almost the day after I got the holster I took the gun to Vans to get night sights put on, and I have yet to get the pistol back. Another option people tossed my way as far as custom kydex is concerned is Peter's custom holsters and seen some pretty good samples from people from there.
