A man who called McComb Police and reported the theft of $10,000 from his McComb hotel room got more than help from officers.

The caller and his girlfriend ended up in handcuffs after lawmen found more than two pounds of crack and powdered cocaine and $9,370 in the room.

Denonta D. Thadison, 28, 602 Lynn Place, McComb, and Thashedrea Seals, 22, 1306 Old Liberty Road, are each charged with possession of crack cocaine and possession of cocaine, both with intent to distribute within 1,500 feet of a church and while possessing a weapon, as well as conspiracy to possess cocaine and crack cocaine with intent to distribute.

Seals is in the Pike County jail in lieu of $100,000 bond. Thadison, who was out on bond from a prior drug charge at the time of his arrest, is being held without bond in the county jail.

Police said Seals’ 16-month-old son, who was in the room at the time of the arrest, is in the custody of the Department of Human Services.

The officers and Southwest Mississippi Narcotics Enforcement Unit agents also seized a 1999 Cadillac DeVille, a .380-caliber semi-automatic handgun and drug paraphernalia.

Police said Thadison called the department about 11 a.m. Friday and claimed that a hotel employee stole the money from his Deerfield Inn room.

When officers arrived and searched the room to ensure that the money was not misplaced, police Lt. Rodney Nordstrom reportedly opened a microwave oven in the room, revealing the cocaine and the cash. Thadison and Seals were arrested, and the money, drugs with a street value of $40,000 to $50,000 and other items

Not a drug dealer but I'd written that 10K off as the cost of doing the drug trade. What did he expect in McComb? At least he'll get three hots and a cot for 10 years. Good for the good guys.
