EPA considering ban on bullets with lead

Post by smoffett on Thu Aug 26, 2010 11:11 am

More info here...

... but in a nutshell, the EPA has been petitioned to ban all lead core ammo. They'll be making a ruling on this with a deadline of November 1st. We're in a comment period right now, and the site in the link above has a link so you can go add your comments.

no lead means you gotta be tungsten, steel, alum, or solid brass. That border lines the definition of a AP round. crying

This is insane. It's like when the military decided to use lead free solder in the manufacture of missile guidance systems. It's a freaking explosive devise and they are worried about it being green. If I open fire on a varmint, be it two-legged or four, it won't be the lead they need to worry about.

Besides that, lead is an element. There's not any more of it in existence now than there was a thousand years ago. Lead isn't really that much of a hazard unless of course you've been eating your bullets.

To much made out of lead. Easy to fix that, stop shooting at kids with birdshot when they're egging your house. Have some special "kid buster specials", completely lead free. Remember, these little kids got to pay our social security, might keep it running an extra year or two.

There are a few of us on here that know how to make our own lead bullets...

Might be a good skill to learn.... I plan on being pretty self-sufficient

Need to learn how to make primers

THe EPA denied the petition from the tree huggers. Our ammo is safe.

What do you suppose the tree huggers would do about La Montanna el Plomo in Chile? There is a 4 square mile chunk of lead there called in English: The Mountain of Lead.

I wonder how many 500 grain .458s I could cast out of that mountain of lead. Enough to wear my Sharps and my shoulder completely out anyway. Smile
