If you can afford it then buy the Gen 4 19. I like mine.

I actually got the extended 2 port. for the same reason fun to target shoot and can't get my 17 away from my wife.

OR you could keep the G23, shoot .40 and shoot in Limited!

As far as aftermarket barrels I am not sure. My idea of production class is that it is firearms as bought at the store. Of course, that ruins my great idea for a conversion barrel.
Dang, maybe I just need a new gun after all.
This would be a better excuse for buying one than most that I have bought in the past.
apendix D-4 section 21.3 prohibits conversion barrels.
BARRELS: Current rules remain in effect - you may
replace the barrel with an OEM or aftermarket barrel
which is of the same length, contour and caliber as
the original barrel for that model of gun.
Special Notes/Clarifications:
For purposes of this interpretation, a barrel within
+/- 0.1” of OEM is “the same length”.

Thanks,
That was posted earlier and appears to be the kiss of death as far as conversion barrels go.
Got a G19 so should be ready to go.

Re: Gen 4 G19 vs 9mm conversion barrel for G23
good deal! I am using my g22 as a limited 10 gun. with a storm lake 40 cal barrel. The conversion works really well for because i can practice more with less recoil and cheaper.
I am considering building a slide for the a 17 frame i have here and using that long ported barrel in the open class just for fun.
one thing i would like to point out. They do allow aftermarket slides in the rules. and after market barrels. so it may be a grey area but the way I see it is if you built a whole new slide in a caliber conversion the frames for the 17/22 for example are the same. then you would not have a caliber converted gun. it would just be a production model that was custom built.
