Miners in Chile

Post by captain-03 on Wed 13 Oct 2010 - 21:58

I have been watching the rescue efforts since early last night ... the last person (rescue worker) was removed from the mine a few minutes ago!! I actually enjoyed watching something "good" for a change - 69 days underground / 17 days without lights, food, water, etc. I probably would have gone crazy!!

Again, a very happy ending to a bad situation!!

Can you imagine the BIG "O" and Michele staying up for over 24 hours to greet the miners as they were brought to the surface. The President of Chile and his First Lady also escorted the Families to the rescue point for each miner that was brought up. THat would have been beneath the BIG "O"

Glad they got out safe. Tough SOBs. I wonder how many would have made it that long if trapped down there with their boss?

Ranks right up there as stories (good or bad) for this year. Congrats to the rescuers (that was a hell of a back breaking job, 24/7) and well wishes to the miners.
