MS Firearm Permit application and information
Maybe a moderator could make this a "sticky"? There is a link to the permit application (printable), fees, locations (with times) and the laws pertaining to the carrying of firearms all on this page.

Here is an excellent link to Mississippi's laws regarding firearms.

stickies are not really suppose to be "active threads" to my way of thinking.

Here is one of the best websites I've found for CCW Reciprocity Map.

I get:

We are sorry, but the page you requested wasn’t found at this location.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives has created a brand new ATF website, and it’s possible that the page you were looking for has been moved.

Re: MS Firearm Permit application and information
FYI- TN had a similar link to the application when I was applying for my permit a few years ago. When I got there they would not accept it. The info had to be on their "official" application form, 4 different colors, so I had to fill the whole thing out again. You may want to check to see if MS will accept an app. that you print yourself. The good thing was that I had all of the info right there and had to just copy to their form.

RECIPROCITY…
You can start at this website: http://legallyarmed.com/
Drop down to: “TO SEE WHAT STATES HONOR ANOTHER STATES LICENSE OR PERMIT TO CARRY, CLICK ON STATE” – this give a state-by-state reciprocity summary.
Also look for: “PRINT A COUNTRY WIDE CCW TRAVEL GUIDE, AND RECEIVE UP-DATES FOR SIX (6) MONTHS”

Looks like that link is now kaput. Try the link below and give it a few seconds to load as it's a massive .pdf file. Hope this helps.

Re: MS Firearm Permit application and information
Hope this isn't repeating something already here. This a post I made to a different thread....
Go to: http://www.dps.state.ms.us/dps/dps.nsf
Click the hot button: Firearms Permit Unit
And just go from there.
You can download the application, get your passport-type picture taken, put together a little cash, gather up some some patience, and in a coupla months…..

Re: MS Firearm Permit application and information
I notice some of these forms need to be notarized. Do I need to have them notarized before I show up at the Highway Patrol office, or do they do the notarizing on sight?

It's been awhile but here goes anyway.
You need to get it notarized up front. I went to my local bank.
Suggest also you take your fee in cash - exact amount. They'll appreciate that.
And don't forget your passport-size picture.
BTW - Hair spray is one good way to get fingerprint ink off your fingers (or so I'm told!).

Re: MS Firearm Permit application and information
I was hoping to go apply tomorrow, but like a dummy haven't gotten the form notarized thinking it could be done there. So is this something they do all day? Or do they stop after a couple hours....or do I even want to attempt it if I don't get there an hour before they open? Because if possible I'll still just run to the bank in the morning and go straight on to the hp office

Don't know which hp office you are going to, but Jackson office only takes new applications on certain days.

Jackson's Wednesday, took about an hour. Don't know about a lunch break but I bet they do, since only one clerk plus two troopers to do the fingerprinting.
