what size does the picture have to be? I can't find anything on DPS website, and I only saw one mentioning on here, something about the size of a passport photo...care to elaborate? mine is in a safe deposit box...

Do you have Print Shop on your hard drive?

I have a Print Shop grid that is the correct size. Take a few digital pictures of yourself, fit them to the grid, print it out, and cut out the picture you prefer.

If you have Print Shop, send me your email address and I'll send you the grid as an attachment.

Get it notarized before you go for fingerprints. I used my Bank.

My paperwork & fingerprints were all done in less than an hour.

They scanned my fingers on some contraption, no ink.

Most every link on here that deals with the MDPS is outdated, they updated their website a month or so ago. Site with link for app is http://www.dps.state.ms.us/firearms/firearms-permit-unit/individual-permits/ .
Firearms Permit Unit link is http://www.dps.state.ms.us/firearms/firearms-permit-unit/ .
Locations and Times link is http://www.dps.state.ms.us/firearms/firearms-permit-unit/permit-locations/ .

That application wasn't there the other week when I needed one. Luckily, I had it stored on my computer. I'm glad it's available on the site again.

Thanks for the links , senilking!

I'm confused. The "Individual Firearms Permit Applications Package" link leads to a PDF titled "Individual Firearms Permit Instructions." That PDF includes a page that looks like an application where you fill in your name and so forth, then there's an "Authority to Release Information" form that has to be notarized, and then a rider wherein you have to state whether or not you have ever been convicted of domestic abuse which has to be notarized. There are two other riders that do not apply to me. I am a born U.S. citizen, and I am not a retired law enforcement officer. Next is the lengthy Section 2 that you have to read. Section 2, subsection 4 states what has to be turned in with the individual application. Paragraph (g) refers to a statement that the applicant is "in compliance with the criteria contained in subsections (2) and (3) of this section." Paragraph (f) refers to a "statement "that the applicant has been furnished with a copy of this section and is knowledgeable of it's provisions." Paragraph (g) refers to a "statement that the applicant desires a legal means to carry." MY QUESTION IS where are those statements? They are not included in that PDF. So again I am confused! Please, can someone enlighten me?
